Getting Started in Stud

It is widely accepted amongst poker players that it is better to know how to play a plurality of games as opposed to one.

For this reason, I want to take a bit of a break from Texas Hold'em and...

Re: Whats wrong 1-2 Limit

My friend--

If you are convinced there are leaks in your game, then you've already done 1 thing in correcting this.. you came to this board. Many people here can give you the tips and strategy...

Re: Bottom set... too aggresive?

It seems that many, many posts here contain questions about things that should be extremley obvious. You have a full house-- do you honestly think that you need to slow down?

The only mistake you...

Re: KK on this turn

You are almost certainly beat here. Your only GUARANTEED out is the Ace of spades, otherwise, if any other spade falls, anybody holding the Ace(spades)-rag has you beat.

Also, because your playing...

Re: What does BB/100 mean??

Most people here go for about 2-3/100--

Of course, your goal is to get as many as possible.

Re: AKo on the BB

I'll keep it simple--

You ALWAYS raise with AKo, even if it's been raised already. Your equity edge is too high to pass it up.

With so many players left to act, I don't have a clue why you'd...

Re: No Set But I Bet

Clever rhyme scheme--

It all depends on your players. If your playing at an ultra tight/passive game, you can bet a little more than usual with pockets if nobody shows aggression pre/post flop--...

Re: A3s in the BB, what\'s my flop play

Yes, calling too often is a costly mistake-- but you've got top pair! Folding too often is an even worse mistake. I think you could easily raise this flop.

Here's how I figure:

The times to...

Re: Rake Effect on Implied Odds

Okay, that definitely helps-- as I'm sure in my local cardroom where all that's offered is $1/$2, the rake makes a HUGE difference.

Now I'll definitely need to pay attention to how many chips the...

Rake Effect on Implied Odds

My general question is, at a B&M Casino where you have to count the amount of bets for yourself, doesn't the rake have an immediate correlation to your pot/implied odds? For instance, if you believe...

Re: Small pairs, many players

Very easy answer, my friend--

When many people are in the pot, and your holding a small pocket pair like a pair of 4's, you want to limp into the pot. And 12% of the time when you flop a set is...

Re: Rake Deduction from Pot Odds

So would I be correct if from now on whenever I attended a B&M, I would count the pot, then subtract whatever amount of bets the dealer moved to the rake?

That seems to make sense, and I hope it's...

Re: Tough Spot

I'd call. I don't see why you'd bet with Ace-high, then fold with top pair. You'll lose sometimes, but you've got top pair.

Rake Deduction from Pot Odds

Having just read a post somewhere, something caught my attention that makes some sense. Somebody posted a hand of his and paranthesized his rake deduction from the bets counted. So his post looked...

Re: Should i fold more?

It all depends rather heavily on how that particular opponent plays-- but, don't forget that on all those hands you had eithet top pair or overpairs. Three hearts will sometimes give someone a flush,...

They should clearly fold.

Re: a hand i\'m having trouble with

Calling the turn bet instead of raising was good for a few reasons. As previously noted, based on the sudden raise it is likeable that your opponent either caught trip 7's, a flush (though I doubt...

Re: How do you do your analysis so fast??

Here's what I did-- and it seems to have helped, and still is helping. Get a play money account with something like Party Poker. Then pick up a book, preferably "Small Stakes Hold 'Em" by Ed Miller--...

Re: Uncharacteristic Fold in a Big Pot

I think your fold was appropriate-- it was bet and reraised in front of you. Under normal circumstances, against 1 or MAYBE at MOST 2 players you might call, but not when its bet at. Not to mention...

Re: Hmmm JTs UTG raise hand

I don't like the EP raise with JT suited.

Except for that though, you played it well.
