Re: Why do we fold QTo from UTG?

Its profitable against 9 random hands, but in real games you aren't up against 9 random hands you're up against 1 or 2 good hands, maybe 1 or 2 marginal hands, and 1 or 2 bad ones on average. In...

Re: tough fold or standard? party 30/60

I think against any reasonable player this is a fold. But your average party 30 player isn't reasonable, so you should call.

Re: Pocket Jacks Party poker 2040 How do you play every street

I think you played the hand perfectly and I think other posters are giving your average party 20/40 players way too much respect. You're opponent is more likely to call all the way down with AQ and...

Re: Tight-Agressive Outdated?

I think tight-aggressive play is outdated for strictly no-limit brick and mortar tournament poker. A player of Daniel's calibur can and should play hands like 78o, J5s, 37s, etc.. Of course you...

adjusting hand range to flop

Say a player only plays AK, QJ, T9, and 78 preflop.

So when he enters the pot the chance that he has a particular one of those hands is 25%.

Now the flop comes A66. What are the new...

Re: Bellagio 30/60 62s hand

I like your play all the way to the river fold. You're getting almost 16 to 1. You're over 93% sure he's not overplaying AK, KQ, or even AA? There's no reason to make fancy folds like this at...

Re: Making the next leap

Playing 30/60 shorthanded, dropping 200 BB is nothing. Downswings like that are going to happen no matter how good you are. As long as you can spot at least one player at your table making easily...

McNasty,

Nice work, although I haven't reproduced it to check it.

A followup question. How does your answer change as you position becomes better and better, assuming that it is...

Re: Analysing An All In Preflop Play

I made some super rough calculations for just pairs that show its 99, although 88 is right behind and if a complicated factor that I didn't calculate was calculated I think 88 and possibly 77 might...

So if I multitable, my bankroll should be pretty much the same as if I played one table at a time...given that I play the same on multiple tables as I would on one?

I think both choices are - EV, but if I had to choose between the two it would be choice two. I think it might be a trick question though since your overall winnings with pairs is times received x...

Re: Utility Function for Chips

Its true that if one player plays well with a large stack he should be slightly more inclined to take gambles than someone who doesn't. This does not however in any way change the fact that the...

Best weekdays for poker?

I'm curious as to what people think the best days of the week are for internet poker (as in softest games). I'm fairly certain it starts off like this:
1. Saturday
2. Sunday
3. Friday
4. ???...

Re: Five tools in limit Hold\'em....rate them 1-5

5. Adjusting to game conditions: I think this might be overrated. For example at a table with bad players you can loosen up and play AJo and maybe ATo from early position, but no matter the game you...

6: 77+
5: 77+
4: 66+
3: 55+
2: 44+
1: 22+
B: 22+

I would be curious to see how people play their pairs after one unknown UTG limper.

Re: Best way to play for a bad player

Buy a book for $20, follow the advice, and then play limit cash game .25/.50 while playing slightly tighter than the book recommends (unless its play poker like the pros).

Re: Why Should I Raise?

You want to raise in situations 1 and 2 because there's still a significant chance that you can win the pot with just ace high. When you just call, not only do you have to hit your hand to win, but...

Re: Too aggressively played? Live 15/30

This is one of the rare circumstances where just calling preflop is also an option. If you think the raiser might not fold AJ or AT or worse to a rag flop and might play back at you with a suited 20...

Re: 77 in MP1 vs one EP limper

He's incorrect, not funny, and folding 77 there is an utterly horrible play. Quit sucking balls and learn the game.

Re: 77 in MP1 vs one EP limper

Limping in that spot is an extremely weak way to play the tenth best hand in holdem. You're basically conceding your ability to win the pot without a set. The original limper could have 22, 56s,...

Re: 77 in MP1 vs one EP limper

This is an auto raise for me, I would never think about doing anything else. You have the tenth best hand in holdem and the limper would have raised already if he had a higher pair. I'm probably...
