Re: Thoughts on this poker bot

[ QUOTE ]
isn't a standard deviation of 30BB a little high for a VPIP 6 player?

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm not sure. I never paid attention to my std. deviation stats when I played and used PT. I can't...

Re: Thoughts on this poker bot

6% VPIP does seem pretty low. I know his bot doesnt play only hands like that, I remember discussing strategy with him fairly often.

Re: controlling pot odds

Assuming these two factors are true, I don't see anything wrong with calling down.
1) You're sure he's on a draw, and not betting a made hand, meaning if he's got a flush draw and a pair and he's...

Re: how to adjust to this game?

I've not actually reached the level where I've managed to pull off any serious adjustments to the table, but I believe that if 5-6 ppl are seeing the flop for a raise each time, you need to limp in...

Re: longest time away from poker?

Longest break was 4 days, but then again, only started playing 4 months ago. I'd been getting somewhat cold cards, though the bigger reason was that I was using that as an excuse to get pissed, tilt...

Re: How long were you playing poker before you started to show...

As a beginning player, I'd recommend dropping down even farther. UB has limits as low as .01/.02. If that's just too low for you, then .05/.1 or .1/.25 are options.

It's not hard to become a...

Re: Look Mom/Dad I won 12K

Your story sounded a lot like something I just went through a month ago, with the main difference being I didn't win 12k. I'm a 21 year old college student, pursuing my masters, and at home for the...

Re: A Modest Proposal

Wow. I did not even notice the allusion to that great essay. I'm assuming that if the author was knowledgable enough to refer to that essay, he was knowledgable about its content. However, he might...

Re: going broke

I haven't ever lost my entire bankroll. To be honest, I don't think I really ever would because I have set limits at which I would drop down to a limit where I know I am a winning player.

That...

Re: $1 to $20,000 bankroll

Is there a time limit on your attempt? Are you allowed to go broke even once?

That being said, good luck.

Re: JJ Hand

Here's my read on what the opponent was holding (assuming he's not an idiot).

His preflop raise indicated a good hand, but not great. If he has AA-KK, he would have pushed your raise farther.

Re: AA on 25NL

[ QUOTE ]
Here is a contrasting hand at NL 25:

Preflop: Hero raises to $41.30 (all-in), 6 folds, Button calls...

Re: AA on 25NL

Definitely agree with the others here. Raise more preflop. I would have tripled his bet PF. On the flop, you definitely did not give him pot odds to chase, but perhaps he figured you'd go all-in on...

First post

Hi all. I'm a relatively new player to Hold'em. I only learnt to play 7-8 months ago. Even then, I only played at some 5$ buyin games with my friends. About two months ago, I started playing NLHE at...
