Re: How not to Play AK?

Grunch.

Hand 1: maybe fold the flop.

Hand 2: With BB donking along for the ride, I probably bet the turn and certainly bet the river and call one back.

Hand 3: That is a giant pot. Call down...

Re: I was betting hard but should I have slowed down with 2 others?

[ QUOTE ]
The games at the .50/1 level are so loose I dont think it makes a big difference if I wait to be the BB or not. It doesnt affect the bottom line at these limits. I wouldnt be posting...

Re: Wilson Turbo Texas Hold\'em????

I've used TTH, and I think that it is a useful tool. (In fact, I've considered bying the Omaha/8 version as I learn that game). One problem, however, is that I found myself using the "zip to end"...

Re: Rules about reading your OWN hand?

In a friendly home game, I would tell the newbie that he won, even if the dealer hadn't. Particularly if you want the newbie to come back.

Re: New poster. Flop question

Grunch.

There is a utility available to create hand histories for Pacific (Hand Grabber, I believe. Check the pokertracker website); very handy.

As for your hand, I'd cap, particuarly with UTG...

Re: KK makes set and gets donked...

Grunch. I would raise the flop to charge the FDs and hopefully fold lone big diamonds. Also, MP1 liked his hand enough to donk, so there is a chance that you can get multiple bets from him here. The...

Re: MUBS or appropriate caution?

I think I might find a fold on the turn, particuarly given your read that villan is passive post-flop.

Re: Mucked the best hand, WWYD?

Wow that is a bad ruling. If you can identify his cards, and he pretty clearly intended to show them, give him the pot.

Re: small flush and too much river action

:grunch:

I think this is a pretty easy fold. I don't see any reasonable opponent who will 3-bet with a hand that beats your 6 high flush.

Re: River play with 2nd nut straight - reraise surprising fish raise?

[ QUOTE ]
What do you think your behind too? A very badly played KJo? I 3-bet it fast.

[/ QUOTE ]

Fair enough. But what could MP2 be raising with? Two pair or big Q that was scared of the...

What v4p said. Also, the pot is tiny.

River play with 2nd nut straight - reraise surprising fish raise?

This hand came up during a mutual swetting session with tyler_cracker. (Highly recommended, by the way; tyler had some great suggestions about my game; head over to the coaching thread or drop me a...

Re: Gilpin poker room in trouble?

I sure hope not -- the Gilpen is by far my favorite room in Blackhawk. I shudder ever time I remember that I used to play Lodge . . .

Re: clarkmeistering the turn?

For what its worth, I advocated check/folding the turn. There is an awfully good chance that villan has a heart in his hand, and given his donkish nature, I don't see him laying down even a little...

Re: Obvious call with the 2nd nuts?

[ QUOTE ]
I don't think he's going to bet many hands that I beat, but he will probably call with them.

The problem, which I ran into, is that it is extremely difficult to go bet/fold on this...

Re: Limit SNG assistance please

I'm in the minority here, because like you, I actually prefer limit tourneys. (Mostly because I'm a decent limit player but suck at NL).

Two tips:

(1) You really must play like a LAG when...

Re: Is the game beatable?

Yes.

Make sure that you alter your starting hands to take into account the likely multi-way action in the spread limit game. The value of top pair hands goes down, while the value straight/flush...

Re: JJ facing weird action on the turn and river

Grunch

I think you overplayed the turn. When a passive player wakes up on the turn and 3-bets, I'm not liking an overpair enough to cap. Most likely hands for this guy are a flopped or turned...

Re: 99, what‘s my line on this flop?

That said, the continuation bet here is probably the last money I'm putting into the pot unimproved.

IMHO, this is not a good spot for a continuation bet -- two people left...

Re: slowplay QQ on QJ3r?

Grunch. Classic FPS. BET THE FLOP. Reasons: (1) you raised PF; people expect you to bet and are unlikely to bet into you or even bet after you on the flop. (2) You talk about people improving their...

Re: Flopped set, large pot

Grunch. Dude, you've got to fold that river after UTG calls.

Also, if the table is agressive enough that pots are getting to $15, you might want to evaluate whether it is wise to play 22 UTG+2....

Re: Flopped trips...but what? River raise.

[ QUOTE ]
I recommend a call. Yes it is a smal pot and yes he is passive postflop but I think that we could still be best here and it is worth the call.

Re: Confused about my results.

Two explanations, in decending order of liklihood: (1) variance. It takes a startlingly large number of hands for your observed winrate to converge with your true winrate. I suspect that this is...
