Re: 20/40 Bad call on third and getting what I deserved.

At lower limits, I am about as aggressive as it gets. But my hand reading would have had me back off on sixth or not bet on seventh. But it does depend on opponent and his perception of you, of...

Re: 20/40 Bad call on third and getting what I deserved.

I read it differently. Unless opponent is a maniac, Mike is making it pretty clear that his paired door means trips on fifth. I might raise sixth OR I might be the river if checked to, but I would...

Re: non-nut boat with unlimited heads-up betting- RESULTS

Good job educating him after the hand. Maybe he can play better next time.

Re: I Don\'t Know Enough to be a Winning Player (QUIZ)

Wow is he weak tight. He has you folding AK to an utg preflop raiser and folding AJ when you are utg. Ugh.

Re: 20/40 Bad call on third and getting what I deserved.

The third street call is not great -- it's probably okay to fold but it'snot a huge mistake with the bad third player in.

I"m curious about why you raised sixth and then bet the river unimproved...

Re: Low limit studplayers: is the best play in poker costing you $$

Thanks for the reply. I made this post for newer players and also to note the fact that the general aggression and cluelessness of the games is going up. It's definitely a change for the better.

Re: $2/$4 hand

A guiding principle for me in these games is that the players make many, many more calling errors than they do folding errors. So when I play fast on 3rd and 4th, which I often do as a semi-bluff, I...

Re: Low limit studplayers: is the best play in poker costing you $$

I wrote my original post as a narrative in an attempt to make it more interesting, but that also meant I took some stuff for granted. Your response about low limit being a crap shoot and who is...

Re: Low limit studplayers: is the best play in poker costing you $$

I think it's possibe that some of the aggression it takes to play n/l hold'em is bleeding over into the low limit stud play of newer players, many of whom don't know how to be selectively aggressive...

Re: Low limit studplayers: is the best play in poker costing you $$

You are not reading this post carefully. It's NOT because the pot is large. It's because at low limits there are now many, many loose clueless players against whom basic hand-reading skills will...

Re: Low limit studplayers: is the best play in poker costing you $$

First, why would you bother to post this?

Second, it's titled for low limit players, not higher limit players who are more advanced like you. For the intended audience, I think this is content...

Low limit studplayers: is the best play in poker costing you $$

Yes, it's true. You may be folding too much. Since the 2-4 games started at Party, I've made some crazy calls. Often I've felt like a fool, when I click in my final bet and am shown a huge hand. But...

Re: 7 Card Help

Ah grasshopper, but ask yourself this: what KIND of player wants to play in a no ante game? What KIND of player wants to play in an overante game.

An old rock with a newspaper and a cup of coffee...

Re: $2/$4 hand

I don't complete here once there's someone in and there are many to act. I do call. Then it's easier to check/fold fourth. But hey, they don't all have to have four flushes, kings are semi-dead, you...

Re: 20/40 Getting aggressive

Here's my problem with this specific hand:

I'm fine with the raise on fourth -- you may have the best hand, you may not. I often play split aces by limping in a four way game, but I also would...

Re: 7 Card Help

You need a few really bad players to make a no-ante game at such low limits profitable. Now, take that same 1-5 spread game and slap a .50 ante on there with the $1 bring in and you've got one of the...

Re: 2-4 hand by noobie

Read Jeff's post carefully -- betting when you may be beaten but can get called by worse hands is where you make a ton of your money in stud. It's a big part of the difference between you and your...

Re: Stud High (€3/€6) - UGH

(hero adds villain to buddy list).

In the 2-4 game where I lost with kings full to quad tens, the weak player wound up with about $120 on the table and I ended up with about $70. Within about 20...

Re: Stud High (€3/€6) - UGH

Okay, he was on a flush draw and you're winning. Is that better? Seriously, chances are, he called your paired 9s with either two pair or trips. When he catches the third 8, it makes it much more...

Re: Stud High (€3/€6) - UGH

It's an easy call. He's probably got 8s full, maybe quads. I call the river, too, unimproved toss in a raise if I fill, and call a three bet. I made kings full in five against a weak player the other...

Whether it is right or wrong to sit with strong players depends on a few things. Number one, who else is at the table. If there are two huge fish, two solid players and three unknowns, clearly the...

Re: RESULT

Are there just a few feeders and lots of tight solid types in a typical 5-10 on party? Because this sounds like a terrible game.

Re: Stud Hi: Trip Kings on 5th got ugly ...

Well, I play 2-4 and 3-6 online almost exclusively and mainly 5-10 live. There are lots of loose players in these games who play hands that would amaze you. So when pots are big and I have any kind...

Re: Stud Hi: Trip Kings on 5th got ugly ...

This is a really bad line, imho. check calling the river means you give two pair a free showdown while still paying off str8s and flushes. I prefer to bet and fold to a raise -- that way you still...
