Re: The Protected Pot Effect: A Study from 2/4

[ QUOTE ]
Also, I'm interested again how this stuff changes at the different limits.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think this changes everything. Or at least, the read on EP changes the thought process (and...

Re: The Protected Pot Effect: A Study from 2/4

I haven't read the other responses, but I'm interested in what we're putting EP on here. On the flop, he's betting into the raiser on his left, presumably hoping he'll raise and thin the field. ...

Re: QJo, top pair, wait for turn to raise?

So, here's why I thought the hand was interesting. It's very likely that the turn bet will be coming from my left because BB is betting until he's raised, and even then he still likes to bet. If SB...

QJo, top pair, wait for turn to raise?

I'm playing in a pretty decent 8/16 game at Casino Arizona while visiting family here in Phoenix; it's my first time here at this casino. A few players seemed at first to know their way around, and...

Re: Best way to stack chips...

[ QUOTE ]
...stacking your chips in a limit game in a manner that is not easily counted, especially by yourself, is a good thing. It can keep that ol' "I'm stuck and have to get it back" thought...

Re: How many Tucson 2+2ers are there anyway?

I lived in Tucson for 8 years, but didn't start playing cards seriously until I moved to SoCal in the mid/late '90s. But as coincidence has it, I'm back in town over Christmas visiting family and...

Re: Joker\'s Vegas Trip Report

Nice report, Zach. I've heard the story slightly differently: The tilty guy is back at Commerce after having served something like a 6-month ban for throwing cards at a dealer. This time, his AA...

Re: Trip Report: Marotti\'s Left

[ QUOTE ]
Given this Marotti’s reputation, I move my chips in front of the leftmost seat at the table.

[/ QUOTE ]

Oh, see, when I play live with Rich, I put him on my left, and just keep...

Re: Trip Report: Marotti\'s Left

[ QUOTE ]
Certainly; I was just looking for clarification. I've yet to meet anybody who actually says "pwned" out loud and that includes some computer gaming-aholics.

[/ QUOTE ]

I heard...

Re: Betting the river after being raised on the turn.

My first thought in situations like this (flop call, turn bet on apparent blank) is that he either flopped a set or hit one on the turn, or that he made two pair on the turn.

The preflop...

Re: Tough river card your move?

[ QUOTE ]
So check and hope he checks behind an inferior hand. Fold if he bets. The board is so scary I don't think we need to worry too much about being bluffed out here without a specific read to...

Re: HU on the river w/ 2nd nutz

Not enough information. What has the action been up to this point? I'd need a good reason to put him on KK before slowing down.

Re: Mason\'s article on bunching

It's often brought up in a game like O/8, where there are more cards dealt, and only a handful of "good" cards. So, when you're in late position in an otherwise typical game, and six players limp in...

Re: QQ on Interesting Turn

you have to at least call, you are getting 11:1 on your gutshot and discounted Q outs

You're getting 11:1 if there's a guarantee of no more action. But if either of the...

Re: KK river play vs. TAG

[ QUOTE ]
No.

Bet and fold to a raise. The TAG won't bet a worse hand in position; he'll check behind. He also won't raise without a better hand. It's very rare for a TAG to raise a 4-flush...

Re: A4s -- I need a better line . . .

You might even fold MP1 off a hand like AKo in this situation.

Was this on pokerroom/skin? I had somebody at my 3/6 table this evening complaining about a black screen.

Re: Big Pot, Looose opponents, when to fold?

Big Pot, Looose opponents, when to fold?

I wasn't going to post this hand that I played last night (live 4/8), but Will's "The Cost of Mistakes in Poker" post made me think harder about it.

It's nine handed, I'm in Seat 1 (MP1),...

Re: I suck hard at blind vs. blind battles

Preflop: I like to have a stronger hand raising an unknown from the SB, but that's me.

Flop is fine, Turn I'd probably checkraise. This keeps opponents from autobetting me when I check turns...
