Re: suited AQ- why am I a jackass??

yup, push that be-atch. It is +EV even if you only get called by hands that are ahead of you pre-flop. But, in real life, some of those will fold and you will also get called by weaker aces. At...

Re: Bet top set? QQ on moderately coordinated board

How big were your c-bets? Personally mine are 1/2 pot, so i'd be betting 1/2 pot here, hoping the BB called with A7-8, something like that, or one of these guys has the Ad, read my bet as a bluff,...

Re: pushing in the orange zone (PP$150)

Good point and thanks for the reply. So that is one possible standard raise play: raise with the intention of calling an allin from an aggressive player, but not a tight one. What do you do if you...

Re: pushing in the orange zone (PP$150)

Since the ~3BB raise encourages middle and lower pairs to push, I don't like it. I also think if someone flat calls it is going to be a high pocket pair, AQ, or AK and a big stack. Plus a failed...

Re: pushing in the orange zone (PP$150)

By the way, my boy called with 88 and I lost. Doesn't that suck?

Re: pushing in the orange zone (PP$150)

Just did some math, pushing is +CEV
assuming you only get called when behind (22+, AQo+) by anyone behind you,

(1) everyone folds 63.3% * (2107 + 225) = 1476
(2) one caller 36.7%
(a) win...

Re: pushing in the orange zone (PP$150)

Therefore you disagree with the logic behind a push in the STT scenario/thread as well?

pushing in the orange zone (PP$150)

Background reading is this thread (http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=4279597&an=0&page=0&gonew=1#UNREAD) in the STT forum, with lively debate on pushing near the top of the...

Re: 50+5 bottom set play

You have the pot odds to call a made straight (which he probably doesn't have anyway). 99, 88, go cry on your pillow. Otherwise, you're in good shape.

[ QUOTE ]
Generally speaking, in limit games I make pot-building raises BFT when creating a big pot will cause opponents to take foolish actions on the later (big bet) streets.

starting hands for making big multiway pots

Can someone provide an example of a starting hand/situation where one would want to make a big pot?

probability of dropping 10BB

(1) Can anyone estimate the probability of dropping 10BB in 100 hands, assuming the player is +3BB/100 on average? Make and state any other assumptions you want.

(2) Is this the stupidist...

Re: What do you think of my play

I don't think raising with nothing is a good idea when you know that it won't fold anyone. I understand you are trying to make the pot big but I don't think that's the right idea. This is a...

Thanks, and also to Mr. Zee. Actually I started thinking about this after reading the comment in Mr. Zee's book about making money from players who draw for less than the nuts. I don't want to be...

Re: drawing, but not the nuts...

[ QUOTE ]
I only draw to "almost" nuts when I am drawing both ways and have a solid chance at least to catch one end of the pot both ways.

[/ QUOTE ]

Do you have a quick example?

drawing, but not the nuts...

In a multiway pot, is it ever a good idea to try and draw something, if you know that "something" won't be the nuts??
If so, do you have an example??
Low limit, high limit, pot limit... how does...

Re: $20+2: A call I normally avoid (TPTK)

If you don't want to put all your chips in with that flop then don't play the hand to begin with!
