Re: $22: push any two from SB here?

Yeah, i was thinking that too... If this gamble doesn't work, then you're just spewing chips huh?
Besides, representing yourself as a weak donk this late in tourney, can't necessarily be a good...

Re: $22: push any two from SB here?

Along these lines, would this controversial idea work: call, tight villain checks, and you bet the pot on the flop? Shouldn't this actually improve your image (ie, this guy won't push unless he has...

Re: Curtains: flop decision

[ QUOTE ]

Well, unless work has completely destroyed my brain (a distinct possibility) I think calling the all in would be $2000 to win $3000, so it is fairly close, especially since a certain %...

Re: RESULTS

Just a guess, but at this level a smooth call is scarier than an actual reraise... if villain had flush, maybe he'd suspect that the re-raise was to try to take pot?
I really don't have that...

Re: $11: AA Problem

Bet pot on flop, you have 2 opponents and they might be drawing for the straight as well as having medium hands like J10, JQ, or JK. Betting hard should destroy the draws at least, then you can...

Re: Curtains: flop decision

[/ QUOTE ]
If the big stack is going to be a bully and force everyone to play any hand for their entire stack, this is valuable information to have, and now is as a good a time as any to find out.

Re: Curtains: flop decision

JB: I agree that you want to take down the pots and project the image. But imo, in this case I think the specifics, and position, make checking worthwhile.

I think though that a flush on turn...

Re: Curtains Hand #1

Hey Curtains, thanks for the response.

OK, if they felt that reraising say, 9s or 10s (or h@ll, even Js /images/graemlins/smile.gif ), would lead to an coin-flip all-in battle, would pushing...

Re: Curtains: screw the 10 BB \'rule\'

Exactly, "playing poker"... ie position, reads, etc. I think i might "play" for too long into tourneys, but in this case it might be worth it. At least you're still well in the game, and reasonably...

Re: Curtains Hand #1

Thanks Curtains, this is great analysis and very helpful!

Just out of curiousity: if you bet say 1/2 pot on the flop, what percentage of the time does the average villian fold/call/raise? And,...

Re: Curtains: flop decision

My understanding is this: we probably have 12 outs if c/r'ed. Ie. Either A8/AJ+, or a pp > 99. If we're not c/r'ed we take the pot. But if so, we are probably -EV to $0 EVish when including c/r...

Re: JJ level 3 push with a limper

Does anyone ever call your push here with a lower pair, or A10ish?

Re: JJ level 3 push with a limper

Cool, thanks!
I just hate getting busted with Js, always seems like i was asking for it. I think this is likely something to try to incorporate though - need to be more aggro in positions like...

Re: 11: how bad was this flop push?

Since you have position, i don't mind calling and checking the turn if an Ace or Q hits. How would everyone else play the turn if an A or Q hit?

Pushing isn't so bad, i figure you probably...

Re: Curtains 4: TT Facing Minraise

This seems fishy, but what do you guys think of reraising to $1000 w/o any reads on villian? It gives the opportunity to fold if he comes over the top and still be in good position, but it can also...

Re: JJ level 3 push with a limper

I hear ya, it might very well be a leak that i'm too passive in the middle stages, especially in early position.

I agree that a $200 raise is begging someone to reraise AI and say thanks for the...

Re: Curtains: screw the 10 BB \'rule\'

how do you respond to a Stop N GO if you miss the flop though? Would you be comfortable folding? If so, does the 1/3 times you call it make it worth it.
What about a 1/2 - fullsized bet on the...

Re: Curtains: screw the 10 BB \'rule\'

I get the impression that he will fold to a push when he bets A8o. But his opponents, knowing he's a strong player and also being strong players themselves (and i'm comfortable assuming most players...

Re: JJ level 3 push with a limper

I think this depends on where in L3 you're at.

Maybe i'm too tight/passive, but i think i'd generally call or standard bet if the table hasn't been too wild and then work on position (if it's...

Re: What\'s the difference

This is a real general comment, but I noticed you didn't mention position. Maybe some more stealing in position. Most of the players at the 11s seem to ignore position and check to you if they miss...

Re: ($22): ATo facing mini-raise from button

Funny, the SNG was completely lost on button, but the intuition worked that he was donkish... I guess i should stop respecting min raises as my default then. I just always thought it could be a...

Re: TT 4-handed

It's all relative... but i'm saying i dislike the reraise with these stacks b/c if he is against an overpair, he still gets correct odds to call with any small pp since he should double up vs top 2...
