Re: Concept for an Omaha Hand Tracker

FYI, Pokerstat, which works for Paradise and Stars, does provide this function. It can be quite useful, although it can be somewhat cumbersome to use.

Re: Updated hand info (thanks sherbert)

OK. He's got a damn fine hand. I like MP3's reraise, as a lot of players will now put him on AA, leaving his hand very well disguised on the flop, although a reraise may have been more profitable...

Re: Who made the mistake?

Can't really answer the q. as we don't know what hand MP3 has. Can you edit the post. Heh, MP1 wasn't too clever was he.

Re: Non-Aces hand

I understand that. I was talking about the other players.

Oh, OK. Well in that case you definitely want to knock them out. You want to restrict this hand to just you and the LP.

Doesn't my...

Re: Non-Aces hand

Yes and no - point is, if LP bet the flop with his AA overpair, he's not getting 3-1; you calling his bet is essentially giving him a free card once you just call. That's very different from 3-1. If...

Re: Trying to learn PLO

That was quick! Good points. I suppose the situation only arises occasionally in any case. And I have folded occasionally preflop to a reraise, but that is when I've raised with a truly shaky hand....

Re: Trying to learn PLO

Well, I can live with the view that it's somewhere between me and Aces - sounds like a fair consensus. /images/graemlins/smile.gifI also think Guy's point about short vs deep stacks is bang on. The...

Re: Trying to learn PLO

Cris

Thanks for that. The results I got were a little different - using PokerCalculator to do Monte Carlo sims.

If the hand was AA72ss vs. KKT8ss the Kings equity is 35.5 per cent, vs 41.3 per...

Re: Trying to learn PLO

Just out of interest, if you were heads up against AAss, weak sidecards, do you know what the difference is in win rate between KKQJds and KKT8ss?

Re: Trying to learn PLO

You're right in part - one of the probs in Omaha is that hands run much closer preflop - even a hand like AAKK will lose regularly. If you have a hand like KKQJds then sure, that's a no brainer - but...

Re: Trying to learn PLO

OK, that's what I was thinking you were thinking. Anyway, I'm going to disagree on this one. I think the call PF by the Kings was perfectly sound - as you can't remove the straights/flushes/two pair...

Re: Trying to learn PLO

Aces

I liked your post, but I was just curious - could you explain why the stack size needs to be 8-1/2 times the size of the bet less money in the pot. I was trying to figure the maths and erm,...

Re: A thing of beauty is a joy forever

Slightly at a tangent to the flop and turn. Can I ask why you didn't raise preflop? You are 'chip leader' and at least one of the players who calls you preflop plays really rubbish hands. Wouldn't it...

I'd go with your fold anytime. In fact I'd have been tempted to fold to his first raise. That might be weak tight but I'd be happy with it, especially against a probably solid but otherwise unknown...

Re: What do you put him on?

Online? Could be deuces. Could be anything. I think the bet on the flop is fine after his check - you have a legit hand and might just take it down now. The min reraise opens a few question marks....

Re: Statking?

I'd agree with you almost 100% here AG, if it weren't for the fact that some of us forget to enter the data in our spreadsheet - or worse, enter it incorrectly. /images/graemlins/frown.gif

You're hypothesizing from what may happen to a PLHE game to a PLO game.

Re: \"loose\" play and variance

[ QUOTE ]

Briefly, in NLHE a tight player can be ground up by loose good players simply because in that game, you just don't hit enough flops that hard, ergo tight players, especially weak ones,...

Re: \"loose\" play and variance

Another point I would like to add here Pete - your description of a loose agg. player could be viewed as a tight agg. player in some quarters. What you/we are all trying to avoid is weak tight. I...

Re: I\'ll listen this time

OK, my take - and I'd like to hear from those who disagree: it makes absolutely no difference as to what you do. Bet the turn for value; check to induce a (possible) bluff - or check fold the river...

Re: Ability to Predict a Players Skill based on Intelligence.

I'll agree with you on some of your points. I was hasty to use the word many - of the winning players I know it would only apply to a small percentage. But, I think it is a trait that emerges...

Re: Ability to Predict a Players Skill based on Intelligence.

I was wondering if this would provoke any reaction. Does it say more about me? If you say so. Since you don't know me, I suspect that's a bit presumptuous, but still...

This is just my take, but...
