Re: Why are poker players (and in particular these forums) so hostile?

Funny you noticed. I said that I thought Texas Holdem was about 75% luck. I had just had my arse handed to me in real live NL poker at the Borgata in AC by having big pocket pairs (3 occasions)...

Re: Pot odds v Implied odds

Depends on what the win means and how many slots it takes to be in the money. At a 10/1 single table, I would take a chance. It does not matter if he/she has top pair or a set at this point. I ...

Re: Well, \"I back and I\'m proud\"

Thank you. Excellent explanation. I understand. I actually had a discussion with MM 5-6 yrs ago about just this. Seems there is a term, variation, that is often mistaken for stdev. I do know the...

Re: Well, \"I back and I\'m proud\"

Jeff A:
I was serious about explaining the "standard deviation" when it pertains to poker. I do not believe that calculating the standard deviation for poker is trivial. Do you calculate this...

I am young, a newbie, ignorant, and I rite poorly. I give up. I agree that poker is a complex game. I also belive that few can earn 3 big bets per hour in limit HE or Stud considering expenses,...

Re: Muslim Immigrants: Importing Terrorists?

The nuclear age brings us another dimension, but so did gunpowder when bows and arrows were the norm. Nuclear "dirty bombs" are a terror weapon, not a mass murder weapon. I think Caleb Carr's book...

Re: AA on the BB

Certainly I have the best (or tied for it) pre-flop. I am quite sure someone else must have AA with me, so there is little chance of improvement. I would have to win with AA, 2 pr, st or flush and...

Re: Who are the worlds best 7-Stud players?

To jeffage: not any more at Taj at those limits. Actually, I cannot recall that game but 40/80 and the 100/200 a couple times and was happy to break even. I lean more toward the lower limit games...

Re: Well, \"I back and I\'m proud\"

Re: Well, \"I back and I\'m proud\"

I agree with sfer entirely. In some "donkey" NL games (even with 1 or 2 donkeys) the return can be wonderful. The competiiton in the 1/2 game is weak. The 2/5 game can be fraught with obstacles...

Re: Well, \"I back and I\'m proud\"

Well, Mr Pryor, I suppose I do not yet know "what beats" in Holdem. Is it different from other forms of poker? Does "a royal straight flush in spades" be the best hand? Does 3 pair beats 2 higher...

Re: Well, \"I back and I\'m proud\"

Re: Heads-Up $30-60 Hand

Player B should have folded on 5th street. No question about it. This is the classic failure to fold Aces syndrom.
