stack sizes are essential here. seems like you'd have to be pretty deep to make calling the flop the optimal play.

Regardless of outcome, you have to bet. If not the flop, then the turn. Get the money in there when you have a good hand.

Opponent is one of the best players at the table. I don't have the PT stats but he's probably a little too loose preflop but plays well after the flop.

Sometimes you're just not going to win a big pot. Raising the flop might have been a little better with all the people in the pot.
