Agreed

That surprised me as well. I referred to him as solid since that was my opinion based on what I saw before this hand.

Re: Results

Not intended as a bad beat story. Interested if anyone plays it different. If its a no-brainer then my apologies.

10-20 NL Aces

Bellagio 10-20. I (3000) raise to 100 UTG with AdAx, solid (covers) calls, loose (covers) calls, button (1000) calls. 4 to the flop, 430 in the pot.
Flop Kd9d4x, I lead for 500, solid raises to...

Re: Help with derivatives problem

BDP,

The strike prices of the options are given: the call option is to buy at 60k and the put option is to insure at 60k, so the strikes are both 60k.

Traditional option pricing theory relies...

Re: The 2+2 Hedge Fund

I started on the CBOE floor as a clerk in 1991 after graduating from MIT, and have been a full-time trader since then. There is edge available in the financial markets but just like in poker many...

Re: Poker in New Orleans -- is there really PLO?

Played @ Harrahs New Orleans about 1 month ago on a weekend.
5-5 NL had 1-2 tables going, good games but the max rake is $5.
There was PL Omaha High but I didn't play and don't know what the stack...

Re: 5/10NL Hand v. AJo

Many players will call 4% of the raiser's stack having the raiser covered and position on the raiser with a wide range of hands. I couldn't rule out an A, a J, or nothing based on the preflop call.

Good point.

"find out what they expect you to do/want you to do and then disappoint them. they expect and want you to 3 bet w/ Jxo and you are doing it. youre playing their game."

Well said, this puts a...

Re: Semi-bluffing on turn

I've struggled with this myself in my limited big-bet play. Only thing I can add is, I try hard to avoid the situation where I am out-of-position with a draw with a lot of my stack already comitted...

Re: KK in MP: anyone raise here?

I would play it the same way. When "UTG pretty solid" limp-reraises you I'm thinking his most likely hands are AA (6 ways), KK (1 way), AKs (2 ways). And the AKs I would think is a little less...

Re: Turn decision

Ignatius,
Thanks for your response. That makes sense to me. One question - would a conservative player holding AK ever fold the turn here with his top pair top kicker, fearing a sandbagged set or...

Turn decision

PL Hold 'Em @ Commerce, 10-20 blinds, $600 buy-in. I'm in the BB with KsTs. An early-mid position player raises the max to 70. I haven't seen much from him in the 30 min or so he was at the table....

Re: Bicycle Promotion & Nearby Lodging

Thanks for the info. I called and they told me the promo will run thru June at the minimum. I don't know the area, is it safe to walk from the Bike to the Ramada at all hours? Thanks again.

Bicycle Promotion & Nearby Lodging

Hello,
I am planning a poker trip to LA for about 4 guys in early March. We'll be playing 3-6 to 15-30 or 20-40. The Bicycle promotion looks very interesting, does anyone know if they are going to...

Re: Decision Time

My first reaction was - you're likely ahead - so raise. You're only behind AA (among most likely limp-reraising hands), and there's only 1 way he could have that. After reading Greg & Matt's posts,...

Re: maximizing AK

Absolutely, this sounds good to me as a way to mix it up and get some action from a hand you're ahead of. I would be hoping for the opponent to put in exactly one bet though, I still have a hard...

Re: maximizing AK

My opinion based on limited experience: AK can be difficult to play in big bet games since it builds top pair, top kicker. If you raise preflop, and flop an A or K, you are unlikely to get action...

Re: I feel like I just urinated all over myself.

Preflop: Good, routine play.
Flop: This is troubling to me with 4 opponents. Someone could have flopped a flush in which case you're drawing dead, but more likely someone has a single spade. So...
