Re: Hello! Hmmm..Is .Joker slowing playing a set on 4ht??

Possible, but not enough information.

I generally call here and raise 5th.

If I don't catch 2 pair or a spade on 5th, I would fold to a reraise, otherwise I would call.

Re: Streaks

If the downstreak is affecting your play, you'd do well to take some time off.

I recently went through a really bad down streak that lasted 4 weeks and decided to just not play for a week to get...

Re: Multi-tabling Stud8

You lose an edge, yes, but you make it up in quantity of hands.

I regularly play 3 tables of stud with the odd game of hold'em on the 4th table. 4 tables of stud is doable, but was giving me a...

Re: Do you make this fold vs Chef?

"Random - what about the effective odds here?"

You definitely have odds to call on 5th. You then have to reevaluate on 6th. For myself, if I blank on 6th, I'm going to call another bet unless...

Re: Do you make this fold vs Chef?

I definitely call here because of the size of the pot.

I'd put Chef on only 2 hands. Pocket As (maybe with the A of hearts) or a flush in 5 (possible, but doubtful). I'd say he has pocket A's...

Re: My week\'s worth of stats

Absolutely! Remember there are lies, damned lies, and PT statistics.

All this talk of minimum sample size and variance is silly.

If I'm running well, I'm a poker genius. If I'm losing, then...

My week\'s worth of stats

Here's my stats for 33s the past week.

This is a mix of 1-tabling SNGs out of boredom while playing stud and well, 1-tabling SNGs out of boredom while playing stud.

Tournaments played: 6

Re: A strange 10/20 high hand

I'm guessing Percy had Ax of spades in the hole for A's and 3 spades on 4th.

Since you would most likely not bet your unimproved board on the river, it is doubtful he'd overcall even if he makes...

Is there a \'Laffer Curve\' in multi-tabling?

Imagine if you plotted the number of tables on the horizontal axis and income/hour on the vertical axis.

While the exact shape and inflection point would vary from player to player, I think the...

Re: Done with stud....

Switch back to 8-man tables, tighten up, and play through the downswing.

Variance is a bitch, patience is everything.

If it bothering you to that degree, take a break from gambling, period,...

Re: Hows this hand v. trips

Hand 1, nothing you can do, just bad luck.

Hand 2, raise 3rd and 4th. And yes, fold 7th when it is 2 more bets back to you.

Here's some commiseration if you want:

7 Card Stud High ($3/$6),...

Re: Sometimes you \"know\" but you can\'t fold it

I call this on 3rd, but let it go on 4th I think.

When he reraises after you checkraise, I'm going to give him credit for trips unless he's done this move repeatedly in the past.

Re: Which is more frustrating to the psyche of an SnGer......?

One thing in this thread that is amusing to observe is the following.

Why do people get upset when they go all-in with junk and someone calls them with better junk?

And when the caller says "I...

Bizarre bet of the night

Here's one for the conspiracy theorists out there. Ever run into those players who fearlessly bet their hands like they know what card is coming next?

I know there are a lot of bad players out...

Re: Avoiding Traps

Thanks for the comments, guess I'm being a bit too results oriented.

I've been having a rough night where I'm winning tons of tiny pots and losing all the meaningful ones.

Avoiding Traps

Being a trapsetter myself, I'm often on both sides of this. Typically, you raise with a big pair and someone behind you with a higher card merely calls.

You suspect they might be trapping, but...

Re: Playing back at high card raiser at final table

By letting you take the betting lead he lets you trap yourself. If he reraises on 3rd or checkraises on 4th, you might get away from the hand.

I'd probably have done the same thing with the...

A fantastic achievement: Misplaying every single street from 3rd-7th!

Seat 1 was an absolute maniac, playing 50%+ of hands and raising the majority of them.

I'd been card dead for a half hour so I decided to play this hand out of boredom (Mistake #1)

7 Card Stud...

My condolences. I've had bad streaks myself, but not one as concentrated as that in a single day.

Take a breather, maybe take a few days off then come back and get even when you are raring to go...

Re: Advice on this hand

Maybe pocket Ks and hit trips on 6th street?

I don't mind the aggressive play, even though you are probably betting 2nd best hand. There is no way he is going to raise you unless he makes Ks full...

Re: New to Stud Games, so I apologize in advance.

Depending on what level you are starting at, you can get by with a smaller bankroll if you are willing to move down to lower limits if you go on a losing streak.

Re: stud terminalogy

When you have a pair showing, people will say you have an 'open pair' like he had an open pair of kings.
