Re: Hand to Ponder #13

Ya know, I think trusting our instincts is not just voo-doo, but knowledge of anothers play that got registered some time ago at a level we are normally not consciencely aware of. It has...

Re: Playing with the only solid player in LA
Ole' Solid Byron has himself an ace and thinks it may be a split pot. So, he checks trying to get the non-ace hand to bet or call the other ace so there will be a few more dead bets in the pot when...

Re: he raises, I call...good poker?
A checkraise (as opposed to a raise) most often signifies a good hand, usually two-pair or better. What could you beat here? KK, QQ or AJ. Even with that, playing back on the flop would have defined...

Although it has taken me months to realize, I have come to the conclusion that this forum is replete with boneheads like myself. I suppose it really is possible to earn 2BB hr., but alas, I way to...

Re: Running mediocre and giving away pots
Everyone knows you're running not so hot. They are not afraid of you. KTs early, should have been mucked even if you're running good. The cap with AKs is not wise out of position especially when your...

Re: Did I give this pot away?
The only way I'm not done with it is if EVERY single other player in the pot had their 5150 papers laid out for me to confirm, then it's still close. Yikes!

Re: soft playing
Yes, it will hurt your game. It is also a form of dishonesty. If I ever quit check raising my mother, I'll quit poker forever.

Re: Anyone re-raise the turn?
Solid image or not, a re-raise is the play. (1) Sets are hard to come by. (2) Set over set is actually quite rare. (3) A flopped straight with 6 4 is a bit of a stretch. You are a big favorite to...

Re: Big blind question
Rick, you touched upon something I have been giving some thought to lately. That is the number of opponets. With a hand like this I prefer exactly two. Example would be a late raiser, the SB and me...

Welcome to LA poker!
Yes, a 10-20 HE is spread daily at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens. It goes down about 11:00am 7 days a week. Actually been quite a good game with a nice mix of players....

Re: Same fish, a good player & me
Good comment, it diddn't occur to me in the heat of battle. For what it's worth, he could have been in there with 85 and chickened out when GP raised. He played very strange all night. Also saw him...

Re: Going to war w/ a piece of cheese
I'm not overly excited about the pre-flop call, but what the hell, it's fun to be human once in awhile. Bet the river for value and call all raises if need be. The only realistic beats out there are...

Re: Raise the flop N/M
Gotta disagree. If you get played with, how comfortable are you going to be with your hand when a Jack hits? KQ, AQ is correct to take off on the flop. How 'bout a K or Q hitting the turn and you get...
