Re: Another lay down question
With some opponents I would call down. However, I think you are probably correct that a lot of times, the hero is beat here. I really hate folding to raises on the same round of betting but perhaps...

Re: Raise this turn?
I like raising as there will usually be a number of callers anyway making this a good value raise, and there is a good chance that everyone checks the turn no matter what and I can take a free card...

Re: Another lay down question
I would reluctantly call down unless I was absolutely sure the button had me beat. If anything, I call down to prevent other players from taking shots at me when scare cards hit. Betting and...

Re: Raise this turn?
One line to consider is raising the flop bet. You have the flush draw and 2 overcards, but you'd still like to see a lot of hands fold (eg. AJ, KT). You'll probably still get 2 or 3 calls, so the...

Re: TPWK with a change of mind..
Folding pre-flop would have prevented the dilemma presented to you on the turn.
Once you've seen the flop, one line to consider is to check and see what the action is behind you. Let's say UTG+1...

Re: 9-high flush with 4 on the board, value bet?
I would have folded this hand pre-flop.
Once you get to the river, betting depends a lot on your opponent. Since he just sat down, I assume you know little about his play. All he has done so far...

Results and thoughts
I should have focussed more on my flop decision than my turn one. The consensus is to check the flop. I bet out because I hate giving these guys free cards, and a flop raise usually means I am...

Middle pair against two calling stations
Neither opponent in this hand was very aggressive unless they had a very strong hand. They would call liberally on the flop and turn with any pair, and draw and overcards, and I am certain would...

Re: The worst trait a poker player can have.
That is an excellent point. A close-minded, stubborn individual would have a difficult if not impossible time improving their game. Being able to learn from one's mistakes does require your mind...

I bet out and again both players called.
MP2 had QQ. Button hung in there with K7o and took the pot.

Play on the river
I bet out on the turn, and was called by both the button and MP2.

MP2 checked. Now what's the play?

99 in CO, how\'s the play post-flop
MP2 had not done a whole lot of pre-flop raising before this hand and seemed semi-selective post-flop. Button could have any 2 cards, any pair, any draw, 1 or 2 overcards.
Paradise Poker...

LOL. This is the best description I have ever seen of some of the hands shown down by my opponents.

Turn Decision
The game was typically loose and somewhat aggressive both pre and post-flop. The post-flop raiser had not raised a flop bet from me yet (whether or not I had raised pre-flop). I felt he had at...

Re: Basic TT hand
I am a master of hyperbole. I meant that one is behind too often to stay in the pot after the flop considering the current pot size.
Mathematically what I said was indeed absurd ...

Re: Basic TT hand
I think you should 3-bet this pre-flop. You may get some of the limpers out for 2 cold (although not often), and you can see if MP3 caps (typically a cap increases the chance for a huge pair...

Check-raise the turn here, or 3-bet the flop?
My buddy claims I should have called the flop raise after I bet out, and waited to see if the flush card hit, and if it didn't, to check-raise the turn. I feel I played it right by 3-betting and...

How would you have played this?
MP2 was fairly aggressive pre-flop, having raised a few times before this, but had shown very few hands, (the one hand he showed was AKo). The blinds seemed to like playing any two cards in the...

Re: QQ. get popped on the turn by a loose-passive
I had no notes on this player so this was likely the first time we had played together. My read was based on the 40 or so hands I had played at the table in this session. As I said, this player...

That makes sense. Thanks for clarifiying, I am going to have to pay more attention to pot sizes. And keep studying, I obviously have much to learn.

Am i misinterpreting SSH then?
There is a specific hand in SSH where the hand is KK, the pot is raised pf, the flop comes down and someone bets into you. The advice there is to wait for the turn to raise because flush draws,...
