Re: raised on river oop-what to do?

Easy, easy, easy fold. You've basically represented the flush, and he's raising. You're toast.

Re: nut straight on monotone flop

Given stacks, when UTG raises the flop it's push-or-fold time. I push. If he flopped the flush he's getting my money anyway, but I want to price him out of everything else.

Re: Borderline spots preflop

The thing is, it's a minraise, 1BB, and you're closing the action, so you don't have to worry about a reraise behind.

I think I would call, hope to hit the flop hard (two pair or better) and...

Re: folding with decent odds to call?

I hate these situations because you are getting decent odds to call him down, but at the same time its hard to put him on a hand you beat besides a total bluff....

Re: What is the best way to play this?

It's not clear from the original post what your first action was on the flop.

Regardless, if you were Villain, and watched an opponent raise preflop, and then saw a flop with an A, what would you...

Re: AA facing heat

The problem is, you're OOP, so you have to decide up front if he hit his draw or not. If he did, you're probably toast anyway. But,

(1) you may still have the best hand here;
(2) he doesn't...

Re: What is the best way to play this?

Villain pushed against not just one opponent, but two. Best case, he has a monster draw. Worst, you're drawing dead. Fold.

Re: Overpair with paired board and villain re-raises.

I wouldn't reraise the flop, but if I did it would be the last penny I put in without spiking a K.

Re: Straight draw gets there, but completes backdoor flush.

At the river, you probably only fold hands you beat and get called/raised by hands that beat you. Check/call. You lose less when you're behind, and may make more when a busted draw bluffs you.

Re: JJ in EP Help me

Villain didn't just raise the flop, he raised with two opponents still in. Your pair is no good. Fold.

Re: AA against major lag

That flop is full of draws and you're committed if he calls your bet anyway, so you might as well just push the flop and get it over with. Way too many cards you don't want to see on later streets.

Re: Result

Your KK ran into an AA hand with position on you, played by a villain who is "quite loose, aggressive and is willing to bluff."

You should get stacked here every single time.

The worst flop in...

Re: Experiencing first big downswing...advice please.

1. Square your finances. If you're down 10 buyins, find a way to drop down, stop playing until you can boost your roll, or acknowledge that your risk of ruin is now significantly greater.

2. ...

Re: very hard KK (pre)flop decision

I would consider that flop to be about the worst possible on planet earth for AA. It could only be worse if it were monotone and I didn't have the matching A. I think I would fold. But I really...

Re: How to play the overpair?

Fold. You've shown nothing but strength all the way to the turn, and villain doesn't care. Your pair is no good.

Edit: Raise the flop more

Re: Big pot with TPTK

[ QUOTE ]
I don't like playing pots this big with one pair but as far as I can see, the only two ways to avoid it here are to find a way to fold postflop, or to change your preflop play.

Re: QQ. How big is big?

For bet sizes, think in terms of fractions of the existing pot. Many posters here talk about 3/4-to-full potsize bets on the flop, 2/3-to-3/4 bets on the turn, and 1/2-to-2/3 bets on the river.

Re: On a 30,000 hand downswing.....

krazyace5, I just did a quick search. Looks like it's been a long, long time since you posted a hand for commentary.

Post hands. It works. Trust me on this.

Re: This makes me feel gross, but feels right.

I take your line, and like your fold, if I'm OOP to the original raiser. If I have position, I flat call his raise w/ QQ and play poker.

Re: 8-tabling will ruin me. (lc)

I play 3-4 full ring. I'm in a hand seldom enough that I almost never feel time pressure to make a play.

Four is my limit, though; I've tried more and I experience exactly the same things you...
