Re: Family pot, you\'re in the big blind, raise to create dead money?

i would cautiously raise any A9 and higher, KQs, KJs, and pocket 8's and higher. i think you need to raise at least 5x the BB to be effective in knocking out limpers, but be wary of callers,...

Re: flopping a set in a raised pot in position

i think you have to push. he's got AK in this situation and sees himself as unbeatable w/ that bet, chances are he'll call. push and make him decide. any draws should not call, and if you take it...

Re: Tournaments vs. Cash Games

sure, some experienced players post here and read the questions. i'd say this: cash games make you more money. play nickle/dime to start. tournaments do provide some hands and experience, but you...

Re: Loose vs Tight

hey, play a limit until you're comfortable and confident to move up. good luck.

passive/aggresive can be though about in terms of raises: an aggresive player raises with his good hands to...

Re: Building Bankroll?

1. extremely different, especially at lower limite (you just can't force people out of hands at the lower limit games).
2. .25/.50 is a decent place to start. i would suggest stating w/ one table...

Re: Prolly played this horribly but no clue what he had

i'm thinking KQ for the OESD w/ two overcards (probably one is a club, giving him the aded flush draw on the turn). or maybe he just sux. /images/graemlins/smirk.gif

Re: How much to move up to PS $10 SNG?

play more at the 5's. any move up results in a significant increase in skill of the players. at any rate, i would say you want about 30 buy ins as your bankroll (so like $300 for 10's). at $120,...

Re: Did I Screw Up the Line?

i would raise the flop here, see what he does. with a call, you can bet the turn, if a reraise, check and call.

Re: Did I fail to protect my hand in this ex-large pot?

agreed on the turn bet, i think you have to keep representing your strength here. MP2 made a series of bad calls, and got lucky. find him on the tables and you'll get your money back.

Re: Why Tax?

basically, with online poker, there is a paper trail, so it'll be hard to get out of it. if you get money transferred to your account or you get a w/drawal check and deposit it, it'll be obvious...

Re: Probabilities of Improving on 3 Card Flop

just divide the number of cards you could hit to improve by the number of unseen cards in the deck (the odds are slightly better than this, but it's kinda close). the odds of hitting a set on the...

Re: Risky play, anybody give their take on it?

i also don't like putting too much stock in the flush draw, he could easily be holding any of the 5 clubs that beat you.

Re: Risky play, anybody give their take on it?

i don't think he has the Q, but he might have had the flush. i'd bet/fold the turn.

Re: AQo misses the flop

i don't think it's that bad. knowing you were going to fold the turn unimproved, i think you have to raise when you hit your card. i'm thinking he has AT, but knowing he's a "mouse" (it hurts,...

Re: Mini losing streak

1. i wouldn't really be playing A6 form MP1
2. after that, i think you played it well. you had top pair and bet it, then top 2P and bet it. the only way someone beats you is w/ a set (possible)...

Re: 3 weeks until I deposit. How do I prepare?

it's not really enough to start at 1/2. start at .50/1. at 1/2, you could lose that bankroll in a week (even less) so being able to replenish every 30 days won't really do you much good.

Re: Correct Play?

you would fold KJ preflop when you could play it for free? good advice. i would defintely raise the turn here. if someone has the straight they will rereaise and you can make your decision then.

Re: Flopping middle pair

i wouldn't be 4x raising QJo in any NL game myself, but hey. in this situation, think what would call you that would have you beat: hands like KJ (you are toast), AJ (better kicker), KQ (toast), AK...

Re: My next read is...?

b/c sshe is a little more advanced than a true beginner's book. you, however don't seem to be a true beginner. i'd say sshe is fine, but maybe try WLLH first.
