Re: Ptracker question on Position Stats

It's normal to be a loser in the blinds when you include the money you post.

But isn't it unusual that cero's sb numbers are *so much* worse than his bb numbers?

Re: merits and faults of the blocking bet

You hit the needle on the head. The defining characteristic of a blocking bet is that your opponent, if checked to, will bet a larger amount than you like (esp. when you are behind), so you throw out...

Re: Pair and Flush Draw hand

PokerStove says:

52.1841 % AA-TT, 77, 44, ATs, QTs, JTs, ATo
47.8159 % 7h6h

I don't know what hands Villain will raise preflop, but this is a pretty conservative range as far as Hero's...

Re: Pair and Flush Draw hand

JT is probably going to put us all in on the turn anyway, so I'm not so concerned about that hand (or any hand with a pair of tens or better). But what about all the weaker hands our opponent could...

Re: Pair and Flush Draw hand

I think this is a pretty great flop for your hand, especially with your stack size. You are a favorite over AA. You are ~one pot-sized raise from being all in. Why are you looking to fold here?

Re: Pair and Flush Draw hand

Why let your opponent see a free turn card when he will fold now? Because you make a lot from when he keeps firing on the turn? I think that is a decent reason to flat call on the flop. Lack of fold...

Re: Overpair trouble - #1

Because, in Lucky's lines, you are folding to a flop reraise or huge river bet. So if he overplays a pair of jacks, you sometimes fold the best hand.

Re: calculating EV of a bluff

I like this formula because it's pretty easy to remember. It calculates the minimum probability of your opponent folding for which your bluff is profitable.

F = (B - E) / (P - E)

where

F =...

Re: HELP! Im becoming a LAG

You know these lines are dodgy, so I won't comment on them in detail. They look like "heat of battle" mistakes; we all make them.

The main high-level comment I have is: You put in a lot of chips...

Re: Ciaffone Hand from PL-NL Poker

You left out some important info from the original problem. This hand was from a tournament (day two of WSOP main event) and the players involved in the hand were the two biggest stacks.

Rivered Underfull

Here is a 10/20 hand I observed, full ring game.

UTG ($1440) limps. He is loose preflop (VP$IP 30-ish), but plays well post-flop and is capable of being tricky and aggressive.

Loose,...

You are right, Big_Jim is mistaken.

The simplest formula is

Turn completes the straight. Given the way it played out, you put the rest of your chips in and are about 21.4% to win the hand.

Re: Interesting hand, did I grossly misplay this and where?

Where did I screw this up?
The turn.

I WANTED BB to call w/ his 89, is that incorrect?
You're correct, you want him to call (or, better, push) with 98, assuming you don't give him too many chips...

Re: Fundamentals

Isn't there a big difference between slowplaying AA preflop against a loose hand range when the preflop bet is ~1/30th of your stack, and slowplaying when the preflop bet is ~1/250th of your stack?
