4-way, call playing the board?

Live 20-40 game.

I raise in MP with A /images/graemlins/diamond.gifK /images/graemlins/club.gif. Aggressive prop to my right 3-bets (AJs+, 88+). LAGish calls in the SB (wide range), and loose,...

Re: When no hand strikes me ..

Doesn't anybody check/call the river?

Sure you can value bet against a lot of underpairs, but you're also losing to any K. You no longer need to protect your QQ since all the cards are out, and...

Re: spewing or making him pay for getting out of line?

Since he's an unknown, I think this is more likely spewing.

Your turn raise indicates strength, and for him to call-3-bet, it looks like he sprung alive after trying to suck you in for an overcall...

Re: 15-30 @ Wynn

T7s isn't much of a hand with which to make a stand. This is evidenced by how the hand actually played out; you made top pair, and still weren't comfortable. Fold this preflop.

Re: Strategy adjustment with overs

I think you basically nailed it. Small pairs would play well in this situation. Drawing hands (suited connectors) go down slightly, but that's not to say they're not unplayable. As always, you...

Re: Missing with Overcards Out of Position

There are hands, such as big suited connectors, that I will raise in limped multi-way pots from the blinds; AQo is not one of them since I'll need to flop to the hand to continue.

That said, I...

Re: Flopped set while defending BB

Typically, out of position, when I get raised on the flop and I think I have the best hand, I will three-bet and lead the turn. I agree that the worst-case scenario would be a check-through on a...

Re: Flopped set while defending BB

[ QUOTE ]

Really? Even in a blind vs. stealer battle with that kind of board? I can think of a bunch of hands that would go 4-5 bets on the flop there, online or live, most of which your set...

Re: Flopped set while defending BB

Thanks for the comments. Does your opinion change live vs. online?

If this were online, I, too, would likely go to war on the flop. But this is live, and in the live games I play, if more than 3...

Flopped set while defending BB

20-40 at my local card-room. Folded to Villain in the cutoff. He's tight aggressive but his stealing range is wide; i know it, and he knows that I know it. SB parts ways, and I look down at 2...

Re: Do you enjoy gambling?

At my local 20-40 a few months ago, I had a guy's number, generally outplaying him and winning the majority of his $1500 in chips in a very short time.

I picked off a bluff once again to bust...

Re: playing a hand like a hand i dont have...

I'm not sure I like it. What were you hoping to accomplish with a river bet? I imagine it was to fold a K, but villain is more likely to have a diamond than a K, and I don't see any diamond...

Re: AQ in 15-30

I don't get it. Read what? Why is the raise forced?

The hero is most likely behind here to a flush. If that were the case, raising and having to possibly call re-raises is an expensive way to...

Re: The turn paradox.

Bet the turn; it will most likely allow you to check the river if you desire, and you've charged him to draw if he's behind.

There are way more hands you are ahead of than those which you trail;...

Re: KK on Ace high board vs. suspected clown.

[ QUOTE ]
Pre flop and flop are obvious. On the turn, I have to win ~1/6 times.

[/ QUOTE ]

More than 1/6 since you have to expect to call a river bet.

Fold on the turn. There's no sane...

Re: My First Ever 100-200 Commerce Hand

If you were going to find a raise (semi-bluff, free card), I think it's on the flop. However, on a board like that, I imagine there's a high likelihood that the lady will 3-bet with any legitimate...

Re: call with KK to price people out later?

I understand the equity argument, but since the pot has already gotten so large, I'm also going to try to find the best way to try to win it.

It's true that I don't know where bets are going to...

call with KK to price people out later?

Live 20-40. Usual mix of solid players and LAGS. As always seems to be the case, once every couple hours a huge pot develops and everyone wants to be a part of it. And so it began...

Re: 20-40 AK live hand.

Hi Lawrence,

BB played his hand oddly, but it looks like a flopped set that he tried to protect with a turn check-raise and finally let up on the river in case limper had a flush. I suppose he...

This is a tough one, and I would have to rely a lot on my read of the player. Would he checkraise you on the flop with a pair? How about with a flush draw?

Your draws are troubling because in...

Re: Out of Position Against an Aggro Player

Hi Jeff,

Other than your opponent being aggressive, how well did he play postflop? If he's good, you're getting raised by a bigger pocket pair on the turn, and he also actually might have a J.
