How to keep poker seprate from life?

Like many winning players I've worked hard not to let the cards during any session, good or bad, affect my play. I however have another common psycological affliction that occasionally rears its...

Re: AKs Early in Tournament

Looking at the hand, even though you are drawing, there are only 5 holdings to which you are a dog that he could be playing. If he has JJ, TT, 55 you are 34% to win. If MP3 is holding AA you are...

Re: Pineapple in Paradise

I feel like I'm missing something here, so I'll ask. In your hand example you are 2-1 against making the flush yet you would rather draw to nut flush plus 2nd pair than keep the made hand of top two...

Re: PLO Free Flop w/ 3s double suited

He's on mine now. I wish I could say I had a clean read on him before making this play but no (he wasn't at the table long enough). I though the raise would put him off anything but the strait or...

PLO Free Flop w/ 3s double suited

I'm new to PLO and would like some advice on this hand. The table was very passive before the flop and so I saw many free flops from the big blind. The flop bet was to try to protect the hand. The...

Re: Short handed adjustment:

I've started to play more and more 6 handed tables lately and have been putting a lot of thought into this question and experimenting with playing style. My conclusions are fairly counter-intuitive...

Suited Connectors in Hold\'em NL SnGs

I am making the transition from a mid-stakes limit hold'em player to more rounded player by plying more no limit SnGs. Things are going well but it is clear that I'm playing too tight. I'm almost...

Re: JJ in the Blinds

My thinking was that this is an excellent flop for someone to bluff at, paired overcards with a rag. If he is bluffing the best I can do is to call him down. A higher pair would have likely raised...

This was the second hand at a brand new $4-$8 table at the local card room. I didn't know any of the other players involved in the hand. I'm in the Big Blind and am dealt J...

I see this phenomenon all the time in a slightly different form. Often when players start to win a few good pots and gets up, they have a tendency to loosen up and play more hands than they...

Diamond Lil's in Renton is my recommendation. They always spread 4-8. Higher limits are by demand (evenings and weekends they usually have them going) 6-12, 8-16, and 12-24.

If I didn't know our villain I would have been too. I would have raised the flop and folded the turn but I just could resist the chance to really put him to the test. Fish in a barrel; Emmmm fish.
