I'd spend some initial money on beer/soda and food to get your non poker playing friends over, have a small buy in tournament for $10 or $20 to get them interested, pitch the WSOP/WPT/Bravo poker...

For a 6 person tournament you could go with this setup

20 x $5
16 x $25
8 x $50
1 x $100

Total of T1000 start the blinds at 5/10 or 10/20 and progress from there.

Thanks for the link, after reading the review they got and the one for the Desert Sands from Nevada Jacks I might try to convince the wife that the 900 for 600 price is a better deal.

We've never done it tournament style but we have had cash games dealers choice, we called the game and dealt it around once then after it had been dealt around the table once the next dealer could...

Because of the hour+ long waits at the low limit tables I prefer to play late morning to early evening when I can get a seat fairly quickly.
