Re: As pairs go it\'s not much - J3s

You said that button likes to raise flops, so what was your plan if he raised this flop? C/c turn and fold river without a straight or J?

Re: a line i like.......

Bob,

I actually take this line a fair amount, against such an opponent. And I adopt the same reasoning that you have expressed. But frankly, I do fear that it might be a leak.

One part of the...

The problem is you are a good player and they are calling stations. I'm really happy for you getting to play a pot against these guys. No doubt you will make lots of money postflop. But...

Negreanu\'s article about playing Dreamclown HU

Here (http://www.cardplayer.com/negreanu-blog/) is the link, but I'll quote the interesting parts. (Sorry if this is already posted somewhere else.)

if you're going to make this 3-bet it is a variation play and should be treated as such.

Re: 3-bet J10s against good player?

[ QUOTE ]

It all comes down to this: if Villain folds so much that you can profitably ignore the gap principle, then Villain is not a good player in this situation. We call them "good players"...

I forgot about the button who is perhaps a bigger factor. I don't like this play from the co.

so people end up calling down a flop check/raise with a hand they'd have folded to a flop lead?

Very simply, yes. They feel commited to their bluff.

They are TAGs. If you miss, you'll be charged to hit and if you hit, they won't go 12 bets with the losing hand.

Foxwoods or AC this weekend?

For reasons utterly beyond my control, I am able to go to AC or Foxwoods Friday morning, but no other time this weekend, arriving there around mid-morning.

Considering this is a big holiday...

3-betting JTs here is spitting on the gap principle. You cannot do that against a good opponent and expect a happy ending. Only if Villain is really weak can you make up your inferior hand...

Re: I Know 2+2 Wants To Kill Me For This......

I don't fold, and probably cap more than call.

UTG could be raising with huge range of hands, notwithstanding those numbers. And CO could easily be 3-betting with a middle pair. My numbers aren't...

Re: just how much attention do I need to win?

To put it differently, you believe it's possible to win at Party 3/6 specifically, without ANY information on players (aside from perhaps the most basic stats with a HUD - i.e., VP$P, pfr and...

just how much attention do I need to win?

Do you think it's possible for a decent (but not great)5/10 player to win at Party 3/6, paying virtually no attention? In other words, could that player win while ONLY looking at the table when his...

Re: 3-bet J10s against good player?

Well, I'm thinking of an opponent who does not blindly go to sd no matter what, and is willing to back off occasionally.

Does that change things for you?

3-bet J10s against good player?

Part of my recent quest to determine how wide I should make my range of 3-betting hands preflop.

A pretty good player - perhaps slightly more aggressive than the average TAG, but solid postflop -...

c/c or bet/fold with A when board is double paired?

Villain's stats are 42/6/.88 over about 70 hands.

4-handed. I raise from co with A7o. Button calls. Blinds fold.

Flop: KK6. I bet, villain calls.
Turn: 6. I bet, villain calls.
River: 8....

Bryce,

I'm confused when you say they are separate events.

Are you really saying that the same player who will check behind with a pair, is also likely to raise the river with the same holding?...

Re: Pretty common turn spot that I hate

I agree with you about how people behave with all those suits on the board. But doesn't that make it even more likely that we could induce a non-flush to bet the river, if we check?

Re: Pretty common turn spot that I hate

Considering villain raised pf, it's hard to see that he's going to have a 2 or 4 of diamonds in his hand. Possibly, he raised from MP with 55 or 77 (and one of them was a diamond). Seem more...
