I think you played it just fine except for calling on the end if you knew he would not bluff often enough to make a call profitable on the end. Otherwise, even the call is not outrageous.

The Sons Of Hope were big five stud players in the twenties. Millionares and the sons of millionaires. Are there any books on them and their exploits? Does anyone have any kind of info about them?

Quick strategy: play pairs and two big cards. Bet the nuts. Beware of people betting what may be the nuts into you.

Ciaffone & Reuben's book, Pot Limit and No Limit Poker covers this in detail. It is playable but not a great pot limit game.

I have come across this game. If my memory serves correctly it is five card stud with the final card down. All five cards count for the high but only the down cards count for low. ...
