Re: 3 ugly hands (2 of 3)

[ QUOTE ]
Why not just play it like a way ahead/behind situation and quietly just ensure that it goes to showdown?

[/ QUOTE ]

Because you can't actually be "way ahead"?

I actually don't...

Re: Big blind defense against a known thief

I'm surprised that noone else has mentioned this, but even if this guy will literally raise any two cards here (and I assume from your post that he will), Q4o will lose a bit over 50% of the time in...

Re: Don\'t Read If You\'ve Already Read MM\'s Hand To Talk About

Without reading anything else.

Good player checks then calls. Sounds like either a draw that decided not to bluff (JTs is only decent one) or a slowplay (set of sevens is the only one that makes...

Re: 20/40 7CS/8 ? Expensive Third Street Call With a Live Flush

Fold, and it's not even very close. If you could limp for $5 with a chance of it not being raised at all, it would be a clear call, but once you know it's going to be "raised", and maybe reraised,...

Re: 10-20 Mohegan Question

Is this one of those posts where you put yourself in someone else's shoes to show us what a moron he/she is? If so, it worked.

Re: 30-60 Bellagio madness

I think your call preflop is fine. You'll be the 5th player which isn't too bad for suited connectors, and you are already a third of the way in.

On the flop, I don't find that a bet does me much...

Re: Amazing Quadruple Check-Raise in 30-60 (long)

The problem with this thinking is that a flop of 223 actually hit an overpair quite well. Of course, most people assume AK instead of a pair in this situation, but that just means you get paid off.

Re: A list of stud 8 or better live games

When I was at the Taj this weekend, they had $5/$10 stud/8 going. Judging from the outbursts of swearing and temper tantrums, I'm guessing there were at least 2 terrible players...

Re: Interesting/Debatable 20-40 Play

Dynasty is right on this.

You don't want to give good players or bad players the odds to draw out on you? Sounds like you don't like being drawn out on, but being drawn out on more often isn't...

Re: A Hand Against Roy Cooke

But don't these same worse hands almost always bet into you on the river if you check the turn? And if they don't bet the river, won't they call if you bet the river?

Re: A Hand Against Roy Cooke

Wait a minute. The reason that you should bet KK is that it "is good here most of the time", because most players "want to check-raise either the flop or turn"??? (emphasis mine)

You should check...

Re: JJ for 4-bets?

Fold, but it's closer than a lot of the posters have indicated. There's a good chance that some of these guys have duplicated overcards, and you will get a huge payoff if you flop a set. But it IS...

Re: Did I overplay this hand against aggressive opponent?

Why limp preflop unless you are planning on reraising the maniac? You "decide not to build a pot" multiway with AQs? Shame on you!

Other than that, it is often hard to know how far to go versus...

Re: My little sister could have played this one better 6-handed

It's almost unbelievable how many nits pick on hyperbole and tiny errors.

Generalizations are useful for those of us who aren't perfect. The word "almost" was included... Sometimes I think you...

Re: It\'s your move, 20/40 online

In a 4 handed game, you are probably giving up a lot of value not 3-betting preflop, even against a very good player. Against a very tight player you might not want to, but otherwise I don't think...

Re: \"Fair Share\" in Colorado

You bring up an excellent point about the Colorado betting structure, and other spread limit structures. In these situations, especially if the pot gets raised fairly often, you really need to be...

Re: High-stakes tag team

You bring up a lot of really good points. I may have to switch my vote. Certainly the fact that preflop decisions are an order of magnitude more common than other decisions leans towards putting...

Re: High-stakes tag team

Interesting question, and one that shows you are benefiting from your studies.

After 6 months, the novice should be pretty good at playing preflop, given the loose aggressive game that you...

Re: Vegas trip hand #1

Like I said, it was my very first hand, so I have no idea how the SB had been playing.

I occasionally play at TS, but I mostly play online.

Vegas trip hand #1

Very first hand of my trip to Vegas in November. An interesting start as you will see.

This hand takes place in a $15/$30 at the Bellagio. I post behind the button and receive 52c. UTG and 2nd...

Re: Another Fourth St. Decision

It doesn't cost you $20 to knock out the twit, since you win most of the time. Thus, the pot can be much smaller than your result.

Re: Another Fourth St. Decision

I think there are 9 ways to have AQ without a diamond, 12 ways to have exactly one diamond (including AxQd) and 3 ways to have two diamonds.

Excellent analysis!

I think beetman really hit the nail on the head with this one. Another point is that depending on the exact type of game, raising preflop may make it much more likely that you get paid off on your...

Re: Dealing with leaks in your game

If that's not a leak, I don't know what is. And I would be careful about claiming that you've "cut out" all the leaks in your game. A leak is just anywhere in your strategy that isn't perfect,...
