Re: What is it to have knowledge?

[ QUOTE ]
I think Nozicks idea gives a feel for the robustness of a belief. The more the connection between the truth of P and belief in P correctly responds to small changes in the world, the...

Re: What is it to have knowledge?

My problem with Nozick:

Condition (4) of Nozick seems potentially problematic in that it is too stringent of a restriction. I am thinking of cases in which condition (4) is not satisfied, but I...

Re: Addiction is a disease?

No, addiction is not a disease. This is not a widely held position, but seems clearly true.

Consider a disease such as cholera, which cannot be fixed by a choice of the person who has it. ...

Re: Final Table Play: Staring Requirements

1: limp behind or raise to 350ish
2: suited aces are overrated, pitch it unless you'd normally go for a blind steal in that spot
3: pretty easy call, good pot odds, good hand
4: easy fold utg,...

Re: Compare three bubble situations...

Just because i advised not to push with aces does not in anyway imply that i think it would be proper to fold aces. Consider...gasp...raising less than pushing all in...or even limping to encourage...

Re: Philosophies of Free Will

Part of the difficulty with this question is that it is often phrased in this way, but this doesn't do the complexity of the issue justice. On one hand there is the notion of determinism and...

Re: Baiting the shortstack…clever or stupid?

My objective was to increase the shortstacks pushing range, in that people will often push with low pockets 55-88, but are less inclined to call with them. AT-AK and TT-AA i'm playing with either...

Re: Blind steal gone good…slow play or take it down?

This is a good point and one I tend to struggle with late in tournaments. There seems to be a point in a tournament at which typical preflop raises are reduced from 3x to 2.5x and then very late...

Re: Baiting the shortstack…clever or stupid?

To clarify my line of thinking, I was worried if I raised that the shortstack might think that I had pot committed myself (at least to their stack) and might not push over the top with some marginal...

Re: Blind steal gone good…slow play or take it down?

Thanks for the responses everyone, just wanted to check my line, I bet 12000 and he folded, just wanted to make sure I wasn't leaking too much value all over the place. I guess I was just hoping for...

Baiting the shortstack…clever or stupid?

This way I can get away from the hand if the BB or the button picks up a big hand, but I am very likely ahead of the short stacks range (he recently lost a ton of chips and seems possibly reckless). ...

Re: First hand of tournament: big decision

Button's Range: AK-AT, plus small chance of A4s. Even smaller chance of a stubborn big pair that regrets not reraising preflop.

Push: way ahead of most of range, good chance to double up early. ...

Re: blind steal gone wrong - comments?

While I agree with the consensus that the blinds aren't really worth stealing, but there is value in having the lead in a pot with a disguised hand. I'd probably rather these be suited to have a...

Re: A few hands from my final table last night

Primary difference between hand one and hand two is the amount of money in the pot in relationship to your stack size. In hand one there is an approx. 5k pot and you have 24k left in your stack, so...

Re: AKos vs 67suited

The percentages are not the whole story. The size of the pot and the amount he needed to call are very important in determining whether this was a good call. How big was your stack, what were the...

Re: 54s hand

I like the semi-bluff on the flop, its a good place to possibly pick up some chips for free and you aren't in too bad of shape if you do get called. I think putting an aggressive player who limps in...
