Re: Matt Matros article in Cardplayer about coinflips

The idea is to compare rewards. So if I pass on the ak/qq spot, the reward is that I'll have a better chance to get to 20k later. I won't necessarily have a better chance to get all my chips in at...

Re: Matt Matros\'s book

Oh man, I haven't worked on the novel since I finished grad school 18 months ago. I've been playing poker and working on the Erick Lindgren book, which should be out any day now. And also any day...

Re: RESULTS

[ QUOTE ]

Despite that, there is just too much risk of me going broke during this hand, and I should have given up this edge to avoid missing out on bigger edges later on.

Re: Interesting Hand from WPT Aruba

[ QUOTE ]
Is this edge inevitable to pass up even when you consider yourself to be one of the best players in the tournament, able to build your stack without showing down much?

Re: Interesting Hand from WPT Aruba

[ QUOTE ]

I assume you mean 1500 chips at this stage in the tournament right?

[/ QUOTE ]

Sure, although I'm not too big on passing up edges at any stage.

You forgot to figure in the liklihood that a better situation will arise in which to risk all of your chips when you determined calling was better than folding.

Re: Interesting Hand from WPT Aruba

At a tough table, it might be even better. Chips are hard to come by at a tough table--try to get them any way you can.

Re: Interesting Hand from WPT Aruba

I guess I mean don't think there's much to debate about whether the play was reasonable. Obviously it's also OK to fold J9s to the third raise. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Re: Interesting Hand from WPT Aruba

I like it. The reraiser is aggressive and would probably make this play with whatever he called the first raise with, assuming he has the same read that you have of the small blind. This means you...

Re: *Official* Party Million Guaranteed Sunday

Wow, where to begin.

First, I was saying that I've been WINNING because of good luck, not that I lost due to bad luck (which should've been obvious from the context, but whatever).

Second, that...

Re: Anyone see Matros\' 78s allin call from the BB?

Couldn't have said it better myself!

I'll just add that the button was a player, not one of the typical "just happy to be here" clowns that populate the end of these things. That was probably the...

Re: Matt Matros vs. Sklansky on Heads up Limit

Thanks for the compliment on the book.

Your question is a tough one, and any answer I give would be an educated guess. That said, of the hands I chose to play, I might be plus-EV for like 85% of...

Re: Matt Matros vs. Sklansky on Heads up Limit

Since I wrote the book, I've backed off on this position a little bit. I will now fold maybe the worst 5-10 percent of hands on the button against a competent opponent. Against someone who plays...

Nice catch on ensure/insure. And I agree there are some missing hyphens, although I do think it's best to err on the side of too-few /images/graemlins/smile.gif hyphens. I stand by pretty...
