Re: Results and thoughts

weird tables at UB and Paradise

UB *and* Paradise?
Don't you play at Party, Puffer?
I thought I was in the vast majority not choosing to play in "Party's great games".
Heck if you...

Re: Results and thoughts

In these games filled with calling stations you need to look for reasons to value bet more hands, not less. Checking this hand was just very, very weak.

Sigh, agreed. I think you may have once...

Results and thoughts

Since there seems to be a consensus, here is what happened.

I checked the river (true to wimpy form), MP bet, LMP and I called.

My set was good against a pair of King’s up. MP made Kings and...

Set, 2 opponents, river decision

$2/$4, Party, 10-handed. It’s the beginning of my second orbit at the table. I don’t have much in the way of reads except I have seen some really loose hands shown down. Seems like a juicy table....

Re: Check the Turn to a cautious opponent?

Thanks bernie.

i think you read the player very well and stuck it to him. however, what if the board doesnt pair on the end?

I’d check-call. I wasn’t positive he had the two pair against, just...

Re: Check the Turn to a cautious opponent?

You shouldn't be 3 betting this flop to get info on the other players, you should be 3 betting this flop to get yourself heads up with the button. The pot is big and getting it heads up increases...

Re: Check the Turn to a cautious opponent?

The thing with aces is its easy to counterfeit someone elses two pair. Bet you loved when that 4 hit huh?

Yea, that was sweet. Would you have checked the turn given a similar read on an opponent?...

Re: Did I catch a case of loose-itis from this table?

95s in SB -- completed after 7 limpers.

78o in SB -- completed after 4 limpers

Since the SB is 3/5 of a bet to complete, I routinely throw these hands away. I don’t play many hands in the SB...

Check the Turn to a cautious opponent?

$.25/$.50, 10 handed. Loose and not very aggressive.

The Button in this hand is loose but cautious. I have not seen him bet his draws; bet for a free card. He may show down a marginal hand, but...

Re: How are loose-passive opponents easy to beat?

It took me a long time to appreciate loose/passive opponents. Top/over pairs just aren't going to hold up as often, but when they do half of the table will have paid you off.

You can also play...

Re: Marooned on Weak-Tight Island

As far as the pre-flop raises go, perhaps you could slowly include additional hands. Take JJ for example and raise it every fourth time. Use whatever criteria are somewhat comfortable for you.

Re: Can someone help me out here?

I’m not having any problems. Search seems to work as does “show active in last 3 months” that can be set from the bottom of the index page of a forum.

Re: Was I Chasing?

I would have folded on the flop.

You have 3 clean outs to a non-nut straight since the 4h puts a 3 flush on the board. With the 3h, I don’t think I’d give myself even 1 out for the back door...

Re: Playing overcards aggressively

I would have just called on the flop.

I don’t think your 6-outer is a strong enough draw to raise.

Re: 2003 Pontiac Grand Pre GT

The old exterior, I prefer it to the new as well. I’m looking at used ones with less than 20K miles on them.

Thank you HDPM, I really appreciate your input.

Take care,

Any thoughts? I’m thinking about buying one.

Re: When you don’t get rivered

I don't think this is a good hand to slowplay and trap BB for more bets. Your very vulnerable to overcards and I think this needs to be played aggressive on the earlier streets. This...

Re: When you don’t get rivered

Opps, I totally missed this. On the flop his bottom pair bluff is interesting but as soon as he gets callers and raised on the turn, it's time to quit.

He only got one caller, the goofy PFR. ...

Re: When you don’t get rivered

I'd raise the flop here, your Jacks are vulnerable to over cards.

Part of my adjustment to these weakish games has been to slow down a bit. I’m trying to get some money out of the BB streets.

Re: When you don’t get rivered

No offense, but it really seems like you are trying too hard to bluff people who are basically unbluffable. I wonder how much unsuccessful bluff attempts contributed to your loss.

No offense...

Re: When you don’t get rivered

I think I would raise the flop. Why didn't you? Because it got heads-up?

Yes. I wanted to see if I could raise him on the turn, although it was a little surprising that he bet when the overcard...

Re: When you don’t get rivered

I need to find a table where all my opponents play "fairly well" seems like a goldmine to me.

The loose enough/weak-passive tables at Paradise and UB are a goldmine.

I guess you had to be...
