Re: Commerce 10-20 NL 88 hand
I'd call, but what do you do on the turn? Let's say a club doesn't come and you don't make a boat. What do you do? Check. If he bets 1/2 the pot what do you do? How about if he bets the pot?

Re: science of poker
Yes. It's OK. It covers Omaha, Holdem, and Stud. I've only read the holdem section. It doesn't reveal anything new, however, it's a decent book. But if you have HPFAP or SSH you don't need this...

Re: why minraise preflop?
I agree with El Diablo. Over at the $100 or $200 max buy-in NL cash game at Commerce, most will not limp re-raise. I don't know why, but for some reason the players just don't use it. If you see a...

Re: Bigger Swings, SSH.
I'm not bothered by the larger variance, I just thought I'd bring it up and see what people have to say.
The point about overall bankroll size is interesting though. You might be right, while it...

Re: Sit N Go Books?
Ah yes I forgot about TPFAP, i think you're referring to Tournament Poker For Advanced Players? I think there is some very good advice for new tourney players in there. I don't feel there is enough...

Re: Sit N Go Books?
As far as I know there isn't a book targeted directly at NL or Limit s'n'g's. There is a McEvoy book targeted towards Satellites, which is fairly close ( there is a difference though in that s'n'g's...

Re: Bigger Swings, SSH.
You know it's interesting, I haven't lost pocket aces since reading the book either! /images/graemlins/wink.gif
According to my pokertracker until reading SSH I was 0/3 with pocket aces!

Re: Cloutiers PL/NL Book
I don't much care to be negative about peoples work, but I think 2+2ers deserve to know the following:
I'm not really happy with the book. Almost every starting hand he talks about except pocket...

Re: Bigger Swings, SSH.
Yes, that does make sense. I noticed the same thing happened to me in NL cash games when I started getting very aggressive. My variance went WAY up, but I started having huge winning sessions - as...

Bigger Swings, SSH.
Now, I can't say this for sure, because I've only played about 1500 hands since reading SSH, but does anyone else seem to be having some massive swings trying to apply its advice? I swear, I've...

Re: Applying SSH correctly? JJ Hand
Also remember that not everyone is going to call all the way. Some people may have read other books and will toss the gutshot no matter the size of the pot.

Re: Too Aggressive on draw?
Why call?
Let's say, like most of you agree, you'll get 2 players to follow you all-in.
Let's say one of em has aces and the other has q-j - your a favorite and want all that money in the pot:...

I see you recommend folding the K /images/graemlins/spade.gif 9 /images/graemlins/spade.gif.
What hands do you recommend playing from mid position in a NL cash game? Why?

Re: Too Aggressive on draw?
I might be a bit enthusiastic, however, the case against drawing is more important in tourneys. In a cash game if your draw will hit 54% over two cards there is nothing wrong with getting your money...

Re: Too Aggressive on draw?
I think getting all your chips in the middle with this draw is perfect. You have 9 outs to the flush, 4 outs to the straight, and maybe even the 3 other kings will give you victory. 16 outs is...

Re: what is your move. $50 NL Party Poker.

Also don't raise AJ

I disagree. There are plenty of times in which you can raise with A-J in NL Hold'em. This is a good time. If one guy limps and you want to play...

Re: Any thoughts on the Golden Nugget?
I've played there twice so I'm no authority. However as far as I can remember there are 20 tables about 60% of which are low limit 2/4-4/8 holdem and omaha, some 1-5 stud is there as well. The...
