Re: 78s flops a strong draw against a big stack

A call would have been terrible. I like the push.

Re: Being a donkey from time to time

Well, you'd be pissed if the shoe were on the other foot, surely. Other than that with your chip stack you could afford to try for the kill. You certainly had outs and no real reason to fear that...

Re: Not feared!

Feared? Yeah, there are a few things you can do. Check-raising the loose aggressive players all-in will scare them and may make them think twice about trying to buy pots. Making reraises when someone...

Re: ethics - do you point this out?

[ QUOTE ]
This is very unlikely to happen in a real cardroom, as the dealer knows the hand rankings.

[/ QUOTE ]

Don't be too sure! I've witnessed dealers pushing the pot to the wrong player...

Re: SSH and Utility: The Case for the Terrible 20

[ QUOTE ]

It's rather fun to spot all the bad play. I mean, really bad. Capping the bets preflop with 94o kinda bad.

Re: Home game disagreement...thoughts on the correct ruling..

You can't rathole chips (take some off the table) and remain in the game, period. Either cash out completely or keep it all in play. No exceptions.

Re: Home Poker with Weaker Players

If you're winning, what's the problem? Play your game. Sounds like you've got a basic read on the others. It's not realistic to assume you will win all the time or even a majority of the time....

Re: How do you reduce the shaking tells?

I have this tell, too. I have been playing live for about a year and a half. It has cost me some action. Unfortunately, I am jittery by nature so when I do get the shakes people can see it from the...

Re: Is this result above average?

[ QUOTE ]
I recently started going to a game at my college. $.10/$.20 NLHE, $10 buy-in for first three hours, $20 after that. There were 9 guys total. After 8 hours, I had $300 in front of me. I won...

Re: At 2.5x the buy-in i turn into a donk....help me figure out why

I'm gonna go with choice #1, here. I suspect that even though the money you won and the money you bought in with is the same value, you probably treat the money won differently. Hands that you would...

Re: weekly home poker tourny

So, basically you think this is an ok payout structure:

27 * $20 = $540 prize pool, let's say you pay top 3 finishers:

1st - $270
2nd - $162
3rd - $108

and you get $270

Re: Dealers mouth!

[ QUOTE ]
When it comes to starting and maintaining a home game, I would wager that VA and I have both done this succesfully. We show the fish respect by NOT softplaying them, we tear them a new...

Re: Home cash game situation

From the sound of it I think you were ok. People do get confused from time to time and misinterpret actions. That being said, I've seen some do nearly exactly what you described in such a way as to...

I disagree.

Betting into a fish in a home game is not. As far as I'm concerned, it's shooting an angle. For the love of God, you're playing against a guy who has trouble...

Re: BYOB: A Necessity?

I have friends over every two weeks for a single table game. I trust every one of these guys and we play for tiny stakes ($10 rebuy tourneys). I have two small children in my house so I would never,...

Re: Laying down hands

First of all, I worry that you might be playing in a game that is over your head. Can you afford to gamble for the stakes you are playing?

Second, you must have some kind of feel for what your...

Re: KK hand in home tourney--thoughts please

Honestly, if you're not excited about getting all your money in with KK you should probably find something else to do with your time.

Re: Busting your friends?

I think some have missed the point of why this is bad so I will now elaborate:

You did indicate that there was no signalling or whatever before you and your buddy got heads up. Fine, that's noted....

Re: Royal plastic playing cards

These are no where as good as premium cards. I bought a setup and after normal use we actually noticed that the cards had actually worn through after less than a month of use. There were holes in...

You are colluding. You are a cheater. If you don't think this is true then you're simply in denial.

Re: <---------------> . . . <______>

What confuses me is how someone with more than 500 posts needs to ask this question. Of course you want the guy to put money in that he shouldn't. That's how you win.

I understand your point about...

Re: Chip Races

People complain at my game, too, but I do have the chip race. It takes less than 30 seconds to race the chips off so I think the arguments are just stupid. Rounding up would only save a few seconds....
