Re: Taking a Coinflip in BB on the Absolute Bubble? ($109)

[ QUOTE ]

With what limited information I have, I probably call this hand and just hope the cards fall in my favor. I don't see the reasoning for laying it down if you think they're pushing any 2....

PF: I put in a sizeable raise to try to take what the limpers have laid out for you.

Re: all in or fold?

[ QUOTE ]
Hate to disagree with someone who's probably 10x better than I am, but I'm pushing here. You don't have many chips and you're going to need to double up to stay alive in this tournament. ...

Re: Canterbury 8/16, Preflop question

[ QUOTE ]
I disagree. This is a huge multiway pot, where cutting down opponents is wishful thinking. You raise, but the primary reason is the pure profit from set value. If you can nab the button or...

Re: Good use of the turn donk?

[ QUOTE ]

Again, you're only looking at one bet here-- namely, the second bet. I agree that if he only had to call the second bet, he'd be right to do it. When he calls the first bet, he's...

Re: SSH made me 60 bucks!

The goal of the flop raise isn't to "protect your hand" it is to thin the field to increase your pot equity. And this concept should only be applied if:
a. Opponents don't coldcall 2 constantly....

Re: passive against agressive

After throwing in the hand range of any ace, any broadway, and any pair (27% PFR) into pokerstove, and assuming he'll bet the whole way regardless, QJo is a 3 to 1 underdog on the flop. If you...

Re: passive against agressive

You aren't going to win often enough to call the flop in my opinion.

Re: I wanted to bet Ace high so badly, but alas, I am weak.

You still bet the turn if all 3 call? Even though the vast majority of the time you are behind and will get called by a better hand? There's no way you're ahead often enough in this situation to...

Re: I wanted to bet Ace high so badly, but alas, I am weak.

While this could be a decent "standard" line against 1-2 opponents, into 3 opponents I think this loses money if you are called by all 3 on the flop.

Re: Probably Boring Blind Defense Hand

If you're confident that you're behind every time you can fold a blank. But 6-1 + implied odds is pretty good if all 5 of your outs are live (AT is a possible villain holding here). The problem is...

Re: MATH: 45 extra chips to start 800-chip tourney adds >5% to ROI

You probably realize this but I thought it was worth adding that the reason math isn't enough to maximize expectation is because your opponents don't play anywhere near optimally. ...

Re: do you use poker tracker?

It doesn't matter if these hands are losers. The money you put in preflop is a sunk cost once the flop comes. Whenever this situation occurs you are definitely an underdog to lose the hand so you...

Re: Is 5k sng\'s played enough?

If the higher of the 2 of them wins the main pot, the small stack busts anyway. If the lower of the two of them wins but you win the 2k sidepot, he busts and you win a seat. You highly increase the...

Re: MATH: 45 extra chips to start 800-chip tourney adds >5% to ROI

It cannot be proven mathematically, but doesn't everyone's intuition just scream that ICM is plain wrong in this case (mathematical intuition as well as from experience)?

This is like chip count...

Re: ITM decision with QQ (33\'s) as the microstack

You'll win just under 2/3 of the time against 2 random hands. So here's the math:
2/3 of the time you win, and have just under 1.5BB. 1/3 of the time you are out in 3rd. If you fold, 1/2 of the...

Re: AA against dumb weak guy, maybe non-standard

He may not fold a better hand here and very likely will not call with 1 pair. Is your push to get him to fold 2 pair or is it for him to call with a jack? I'd like this push a lot better with air...

Re: Your pick for most overrated NL hand?

If this were true, you could steal a LOT of pots (like 90% of flops!). And even if it were true, assuming you raised preflop, you'd still show a profit with AA.
