I've had only good experiences with Dell. I've had a Toshiba, Compaq, and an HP laptop, and Dell (with a good coupon) has been a better value and better computer (fewer problems).

I don't know which model is cheapest with 1600x1200, but I'd recommend going with 1920x1200... the extra space is nice.

I'm telling you, go with a Dell. UWXGA is the way to go. You may not think you need the extra pixel space 1920x1200 as opposed to 1600x1200, but you can add quite a few more games.
