Re: August Goals Post...

I've been taking a break from playing for a few months, but it's time for a comeback!

1. 10,000 hands at 5/10 6max.
2. Grow some cahonahs and make the thin river value bets
3. Finish HOH v.1 and...

Re: June Issue

Yes, but the 5 of spades was already showing, so I'm still confused even after the typo fix. Also, the 3 of hearts shows twice.

Re: hand selection guidelines for small stakes 6max tables

Short-handed requires more skill and imagination? No wonder I love the game so much!

Seriously though, full ring games require skill and imagination also, just not on as many or frequent hands...

Re: Interesting river decision

Unless my reads on the other opponents are SUPER passive, I fold the flop here. I'm out of position to the field with just overcards and it's a flop that will get raised behind me a large percentage...

Re: Major Differences between Full and SH?

Here are a few guidelines to get you started.

1. NEVER open-limp. I know that "never" and poker don't go well together, but this is one rule that seems rock solid for short-handed play. Preflop,...

Re: Not a fan of how i played this...tell me why

3bet preflop? Not super important for the rest of the hand, but a question I had anyways.

I love the flop raise, but not the flop cap because the other two hands folded. The rest of the hand I...

Re: me vs. a thinking lag

Yah, I decided I was GOING to call the check-raise before I bet, otherwise I'd have checked behind.

Re: me vs. a thinking lag

I'd rather bet the turn if I know I can fold to a raise, but the jack pairing is such a scare card, a bluff becomes very possible, so I didn't want to fold.

Yah, inducing a bluff by betting...I don't think I've ever done that before this hand /images/graemlins/cool.gif

The thinking lag opponents seem to give people trouble (including me) at party...

Re: me vs. a thinking lag

Well here's where I think this particular type of opponent is interesting to play against. I figured if I bet and was called, I could be up against a worse ace, or I could be behind. However I also...

Re: countering the check/call + bet tactic

I think you played these hands pretty well. For these situations in general, you should most of the time either fold or raise on the turn depending on whether you hit a strong hand or not. I might...

Re: me vs. a thinking lag

Do you really think a thinking player with loose aggressive tendencies checks this river with a small pocket pair?

Re: very weak?

Interesting...full ring table with empty seats...and very passive.

At a normal 6max table, this is an easy call down, but given these circumstances, I'd say it's pretty close either way.

Re: me vs. a thinking lag

would you raise UTG w/ QT or T9?
Although I suppose this exact situation could come up where you open-raised from a later position, so I guess your point is relevent.

This is pretty exactly what I was thinking. My hand-reading is just a little better than mediocre, but here's what I was thinking.

me vs. a thinking lag

Party Poker 10/20 6max hand from memory:

I'm UTG w/ AQo and open raise. Folded around to what I perceive to be a somewhat tricky some what lagish player in the big blind who calls.

Flop comes...

I think that I would check/call when the ace shows on the turn. I agree that you probably can't fold to this type of player, but I don't think betting out on the turn is a good idea unless you are...
