Re: A question for Steve Hudak

Oops yea my mistake. No I don't think he's calling preflop with hands like 87s.
I don't see why it would make you more likely to call though if he doesn't have 87s as if he did you'd also have to...

Re: A question for Steve Hudak

Let's try to guess at what his preflop calling range is. He's probably going to fold any hand except a pair or AK. I'm not sure how likely he is to reraise all in preflop with a big pair or AK. To...

Re: A question for Steve Hudak

Giving him AA, KK, 55, 7x only 20% of the time, a hand I'll be way ahead of 5% of the time, and a pair QQ or lower besides 55 or 77 75% of the time my EV would come out to about +15300 on the call. ...

Re: A question for Steve Hudak

If it was that simple I would call as I would expect to gain 19,800 chips in EV by making the call.

In the real-life situation that occured if you do an EV analysis giving my opponent a...

Re: A question for Steve Hudak

I had AK. Preflop he could have a very large range. On the flop I had 95k and bet 50k into a pot of over 90k. I'm left with 45k and after he check raises all in my thinking was it was less than 5%...

Re: doug lee is gooot!

The Five Diamond World Poker Classic is coming up at the bellagio. Should be lots of high limit action and a 15k tourny to boot.
Yea Scotty Nguyen wanted to bet I was 12 but the rest of the table...

Re: doug lee is gooot!

Earlier in the tournament Doug bluffed me out of a decent pot where he limped in at 400 800 blinds and I raised to 3500 in the small blind with QQ. He calls flop is As 6s 4h I bet 6k and he raises...

Re: Overlimping AA for deception?

In games filled with some good and decent thinking players, yes it's better to do it sometimes than not as long as you limp sometimes with other not so good hands. Against crack addicts however it's...

Re: Hand against mike l.

it just doesn't make sense to call a bet on the turn if you're not even going to bet the river if you improve.

That's just plain wrong.

Re: 100/200 69s on the button

You're getting 5 to 1 to call the cap. I don't think there are any conditions under which you could fold here.

Re: BK and I disagree

As I wrote above, I don't think this one is close at all. But even if it was, we all still benefit by clearly stating and understanding all the reasons for betting or checking.

Re: Weak Tight you say Mikel?

So if a similar situation came up where all the action was the same, and your reads were the same, would you bet or check the river?

Re: Hand vs Sklansky

You shouldn't call the turn with (maybe) 5 outs getting 7:1. The only reason to call would be if you thought there was a significant chance you still have the best hand which vs. a Sklansky flop 3...

Re: Hand vs Sklansky

I'm about 95% confident you lost this hand. He's overly tight passive at limit hold em. I wouldn't even bet the river because with the J I don't see you getting called by A highs, though maaaaaybe...

Re: 20-40 at the Borgata--strangely played hand

The chance of one of them having a 9, AA, or KK is more than high enough to warrant folding.

Re: 200/400 hand 1

I think the problem with a check raise is he's usually gonna give up here when he has nothing which is what he has most of the time, and check behind. The check call flop and donk bet turn line you...
