Re: Fun for everyone (hand reading, outs counting, play-making)

Here is my 2 cents:

1) What range of hands does SB have?
From your description of the SB I would put him on AA, KK or AK maybe KQ but I doubt it. He has a pretty low preflop raise %. I would...

Re: So i found this dream 2/4 table and promptly lost a $100

Hmm, I thought that the general logic was to play the oposite as the table. If they are loose play tight. If they are tight play loose.

Re: So i found this dream 2/4 table and promptly lost a $100

Just to stop the vomit fest let me restate: /images/graemlins/smile.gif

When I said tighten up what I meant to say was change your starting requirements.

For example against a good player...

Re: Table Selection For Newbies

Wow. Let me get this straight. You sit at completely empty tables? Then play heads up, three-handed, four-handed etc as people (mostly fish) come and join your table?

Wow. That does sound like...

Re: Table Selection For Newbies

So, now that I look back I should have titled this "Table Selection for the faint of heart." /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I think that one of the Poker skills that I need to work on is down-side...

Re: Table Selection For Newbies

At this level the money is pretty irrelevant to me. I just hate to lose. Even more I hate to lose if I am at a skill disadvantage. The only real measure that I have for being at a skill advantage...

Re: So i found this dream 2/4 table and promptly lost a $100

I have gotten killed at tables like this before and they can be really frustrating. My bad habit was playing too many pots. What helped me was tightening up. Then what I would do is play the...

Table Selection For Newbies

Hi everyone. I have been having some troubles with my game at 1/2 and 2/4 and have made an adjustment that really seemed to help me out.

Previously I have selected the table by picking the one...

Re: AQs playalong

Someone should correct me if I am wrong here; however, I do not think that you need the best hand to have pot equity to raise. You just have to have better than 1/(people in pot) percent chance win....

PT Datamining Question

Hi,

I have PokerTracker installed; however, it is currently only downloading stats for tables that I am playing on. Is there a way to configure it to download tables that I am observing? I am...

Re: overcall, raise, or fold in big pot?

Thanks. I completely misunderstood pot equity until now. This gives me something to think about.

Now if I can only stop raising from UTG with 72o...

Wow, I think that I just learned something very important that I did not realize before. I am sure that it was obvious but humor me while I restate:

When calling: You compare your call amount to...

Re: overcall, raise, or fold in big pot?

Wouldn't a turn bet here (or a check raise) be for the same purpose as the cap bet on the flop? You have twelve outs if you assume that they are all live. You are getting twelve to on on your...

Re: overcall, raise, or fold in big pot?

Hmmm. Let me see if I have this straight. You are value betting with the cap bet because your odds of making the flush are better than the pot odds? Is that what makes the cap bet correct?

Re: Standard play on all streets?

I think that you played it perfectly. Check/call on the flop to hide your strength when the bets are cheap. Bet/3-Bet on 4th street when the betting goes up. I think that you got the max value...

Re: overcall, raise, or fold in big pot?

I may be way off base here but with 7 players in the pot I do not like your 4-bet on the flop. You had a raise, two cold callers and a reraise behind you. I would just fold here.

On the river I...

OK, great I think I understand. This is really great advice.

Tell me if this sounds correct so that I can see if I understand. You are making a big reraise here for two reasons:
1) Remove...

Big Overpair Leak. Please Help

Hello everyone,

I think that one of the biggest leaks in my game is playing overpairs. I have lost my stack on several occasions to a flopped set and I am not certain what to do about it.
