Re: Huge River Overbet from a total rock

In the hand I actually had AK, and not 9s7s.

I instacalled the $80 on the river and tabled my hand immediately since it was pretty obvious it was good.

But on the drive home I got to...

Re: 2/5 Live NL I love playing big pots with 1 pair

I pretty much completely agree.

There is another dimension to add to this though. I was the only person making pot-sized bets at the table. This guy wouldn't completely underbet the pot like...

Meh, doesnt seem believeble becuase you bet the 8 on the flop. If villan is a thinking player, he calls this with any decent ace.

Huge River Overbet from a total rock

2/5 NL at Windstar in Oklahoma. Terrible game. I have $600 in front of me. Villain has approximately $2500, and since I've only been here 30 minutes I have no idea how he got it. Every pot is...

Re: Game Selection: Money on the table.

I haven't multi-tabled NL 6-max in a while, but when I did, I looked for deep stacks also. I would also try to find tables where the open slot had position on a big stack or the big stacks at the...

Re: 2/5 Live NL I love playing big pots with 1 pair

Obviously, a lot depends on my read. I didn't really have much of one other than that I have played against this kind of guy before, and they love to call raises against the weak-tight players and...

Re: pushing in the orange zone (PP$150)

You're missing a fundamental difference between SNGs and MTTs. The payout structure of an MTT is so top heavy that accumulating chips is much more important than survival. In a STT (with 5 players...

Re: 2/5 Live NL I love playing big pots with 1 pair

One time bump. Is this a standard call for you guys? I play very little NL in cash games (mostly tournaments), and almost never play live, so up until the other day I had never made a call like...

2/5 Live NL I love playing big pots with 1 pair

I was at the Winstar casino 1 mile north of the Texas border on Friday and sat in 1 of 4 2/5 NL games (buyin of $500). About 2 orbits in, I had played basically 0 hands. I wouldn't normally be that...

Re: MP Steal A8-Super Thursday

Oh OK. I was definitely wondering about the preflop play. What specifically about this situation makes you like a call better than a push? I think I would be pushing almost all the time here.

Once you hit your mid pair on the flop I don't see how you can fold. But don't expect to see the best hand here very often. That play for me is pretty standard with my hand (mid pocket...

Re: Cold-Cards

I don't keep track of suits. I have 1 column for each hand (AA, AK, AKs) and I make little tickmarks. When I reach 50 for a given hand, I make a new box for it. The notebook is filled up through...

Re: Cold-Cards

Dude, I totally know what you mean. I have been writing down all my hands lately, and I'm getting AA once out of every 179 hands, and it's even worse for KK. I get it once ever 198 hands. I feel...

Re: Missed a draw and fired; Am I in a dark tunnel?

When I look at it, I don't like it. But objectively, you're getting 1.5-1, so you only need to have him fold 40% of the time. I think he has diamonds a fair amount of the time, and I also think he...

Re: Deepish KQ Hand

Villain's play in this hand is really weird. His min raise on the flop followed by the turn check makes me think he either has a weak queen or a draw. With a weak queen he might raise the flop...

Re: $6 rebuy Boat on river - Your line?

I suck. I really just meant the hand in the original post. I thought you should have raised the flop there. That way you stack his AJ. I think the 2nd hand you described was fine.

A raise pre-flop to 550 would have clarified this.

Ok, this is in the Pokerstars 300 from saturday. About 30 left, bubble at 18. Overall its a relatively tough table, fairly tight, and aggressive.

Re: $6 rebuy Boat on river - Your line?

You misunderstood my question. I asked why you didn't raise the FLOP. There's a good chance if you raise the flop, you are going to get it all in by the turn (in this case he would be drawing dead,...

Re: $6 rebuy Boat on river - Your line?

Why did you not raise the flop? There is an ace on board. Try to win big pots with big hands. In a $6 tournament there is basically 0 chance you don't stack this guy if you play this hand fast.
