Re: KQ hand - help me

This looks OK to me apart from the turn bet - as 42it says, better to try and check it down as you may not be ahead of the Button and you can't fold out the AI player.

Re: AK squeeze play--good,bad, awful?

I think this is very risky with deep money and is probably -EV. Frankly it looks like FPS to me. You could have avoided this by not limping AK UTG but raising like you should. It's an OK move with...

Re: Tough river decision

When I am up against an unknown at small stakes assume they are a bad player rather than a good player. Not sure if thats the best way to think about it, but oh well.

Re: Tough river decision

I like your play on the flop and turn with the possible flush and straight draws. I hate this spot with no very reliable reads. It's marginal but I think this is a fold.

Re: Which line do you take?

If you want to do anything other than folding, c/r the flop looks good, as a lot of people will do this with a Jack. I certainly wouldn't do this every time but once in a while you can get away with...

Re: Moved up to $50NL 6max, got a couple of \"iffy\" hands...

Hand 1: No one's mentioned this so far, but I'd give serious consideration to folding this to the preflop raise. The raise to you is 5% of villain's stack, so it is on the borderline between "clear...

Re: AA - faced with an all in on turn

You're very rarely ahead here. It seems an odd play by villain but this is a clear fold IMO. My rule of thumb is that the later in the hand a villain raises/pushes when you've shown strength, the...

Re: Turned flush, river scare card, and I hate minraises!

This is tricky but J /images/graemlins/club.gif 9x is certainly a possibility for villain here. Folding the best hand is such a huge error given the pot odds that I'd reluctantly call.

Re: Fold or Call

People do c/r all in on the flop with some weird holdings. I also had a similar one the other day, where I had an overpair, put him on a flush draw and called. Adapted to OP's flop he had 2...

Re: Matt Matros article from Card Player: AK and Fold Equity

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
I've been devaluing AK lately. I don't play it quite as aggressively as I used to. I don't like reraising with it, even from late postion. This is probably bad, but I've folded...

Re: Losing value or prudence??

[ QUOTE ]
You're way ahead IMO, if he even has an ace (unlikely) it's very weak. Being 75/25 I think he'll call a small-ish value bet though with whatever he has (a J? pockets? weak A?). If he c/r...

Any particular reason why you didn't? Just curious.

Re: 25NL: QQ pf - tough decision

You're way ahead of SB's range here - re-raising to get HU is good although I'd make it $13 or so. If CO sets you in, call and hope he thinks you're trying to cut him out with a marginal holding. ...

Re: AKo - UTG - need a better line

[ QUOTE ]
Raise more pre-flop, make it $1.25, that's a standard raise. Then CB the flop, bet the flop, bet the river.

Re: Matt Matros article from Card Player: AK and Fold Equity

The article is about a small stack. But with deep stacks moving in seems like a bad move.

I agree - you can't push with AK with deep money. I'm inclined to think...

Re: KK/AA typical problem for me

I wouldn't worry about the flop bet - don't forget that part of the point is to take the pot down there with your one pair hand, so if everyone folds you've done your job as they could have outdrawn...

Re: Poker Room 1-1 NL, AJs hand.

The 4.5:1 pot odds make a call tempting, but the fact he has deliberately given you those odds with his mini-raise makes it unlikely he is bluffing and dictates a fold. Having said that if he is a...

OT: Isn't this actually .50-1 on PokerRoom? I never got why they labelled it 1-1.

Re: Have low pockets...short stack pushes for $6 (25NL)

I'm a big believer in calling pf AIs at this level, but (a) 66 is just not quite good enough (88 would be fine IMO) and (b) more importantly, there is still someone to act behind you, which makes it...

He doesn't have a bare T. Have another look at his stats - this play is very read-dependent.
