Re: I\'m Hot For Teacher (err, T.A.) Results

Give it another shot after grades come out. When I was a TA the general rule was no going out with students until the grades are in. That might explain her request to come talk later. BTW, my...

Re: FILM: Movies that have made you tear up

The end of Band of Brothers gets me everytime. Specifically, the part where the real life Winters quotes Sgt. Mike Ranney of the 101st: "In thinking back on the days of Easy Company, I'm treasuring...

Re: SF Bay Area Omaha and Stud

O/8 at the Oaks is 4/8, I believe. The Oaks also has Stud: 2/4, 4/8, and maybe higher.

Re: FILM: Favourite film moment, ever?

Miller's Crossing, near the end:

Bernie: Tommy! Look in your heart!

Tom: What heart?

Don't want to give away too much, but this scene ties together the movie together perfectly and makes you...

Re: Wynn $3 chips / Excalibur limits

[ QUOTE ]
Why not use $5 and $1 chips? Heck, the Mirage uses 5 & 1 for the 6/12 game.

[/ QUOTE ]
It is not a coincidence that the 8/16 game at the Bellagio and the 6/12 at the Mirage are two...

Re: Wynn $3 chips / Excalibur limits

The Wynn uses $2 chips for 8/16, which I like. The Bellagio uses a combo of $5 and $1 chips for 8/16, which I think is incredibly dumb. Still, when I played at the Wynn people were complaining...

Re: My first poker trip to vegas

I played about 20 hours of 8/16 in Vegas a couple weeks ago and can offer some comments. I found the Bellagio 8/16 to be a pretty rockish game during the day. There were lots of chopped pots and...

Re: best CYE episode?

I love the one where his mom dies and he keeps using it as an excuse to get out of stuff even though he's not mourning. I also love the one with Laraine Newman where he invents a story at the incest...

Re: Reduced rake for short-handed table

I was playing 8/16 at the Bellagio and the Wynn last week and I asked for reduced rake when the table got short. The dealer at the Bellagio told me she had already reduced it and the floor quickly...

Vegas and Mesquite Trip Report (longish)

I just finished a year long job in Utah and figured I'd celebrate by donking it up at the card table. I started by hitting the Oasis in Mesquite. What a dump. Granted the rates are only $30/night...

Re: Poker in Mesquite?

Thanks for the responses. I can't make the Open, but does anyone know the structure of the daily tournies? Are they the typical low buy-in, quickly escalating blinds, bingo-fests?

Poker in Mesquite?

I've searched here and in other places and I have been unable to find any info on poker in Mesquite, NV. I've seen TV commercials saying somewhere, I think the Oasis, has a poker room, but I was...

Re: Best Crime Movie of All Time...

I'll throw in another vote for Miller's Crossing, which I think is the best movie the Coen Brothers have made (and I consider Raising Arizona and Lebowski to be among the top comedies of all time).

Re: Cy Young

I think Kenny Rogers should at least be on the list. He's got the lowest ERA in the AL at 1.69 and while his WHIP and K numbers aren't that good the old man deserves some resepect.

Re: Any golfers from Utah?

I live in Utah, I'm on this forum, and I golf. I'm in SLC so I don't know Park City that well, but around here Old Mill (near the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon) and Bonneville (up near Foothill Dr.)...

Re: The Oaks Cardroom - Emeryville (Poor decision making)

I haven't been to CSP in about a year, and even then the cardroom was clearly on the decline. Part of that, I think, is the prospect of slot machines coming. Still, after an evening playing cards...

Re: The Oaks Cardroom - Emeryville (Poor decision making)

I'm going to lay off the law talk since I imagine it's boring to most folks. Suffice to say if you read that case close enough you'll see the general rule gives you no shot.
I'll also add that I...

Re: The Oaks Cardroom - Emeryville (Poor decision making)

I hate to break it to you, but your claim that a cardroom owes you $150 is most definitely a gambling loss. Read the case I cited for more info.
Your casual dismissal of any argument suggesting...

Re: The Oaks Cardroom - Emeryville (Poor decision making)

Perhaps this will help you see why you are having trouble drumming up some credibility. You say you are 100% sure you could win a legal suit against the Oaks, when you are actually 100% wrong and...

Re: The Oaks Cardroom - Emeryville (Poor decision making)

You need to drop the rhetoric about being legally entitled to anything. California courts want nothing to do with gaming disputes. They enforce a strong public policy forbidding civil suits over...

Re: wendover, nv

It's a relief to hear that there is a decent poker room in Wendover as I'm about to move to SLC. How far a drive is it? I've also heard about a shuttle-- does anyone know how that works?

Re: What are your favorite lines spoken at the table?

My favorite is "Deck Change!" It invariably means the player is horrible and is on tilt.
