Re: The official Greg WORLD CHAMPION Raymer Thread

Traded emails with my friends, who are novices, all week. Some, who know poker almost exclusively through ESPN and the Travel Channel, were confused by the lack of "names" atop the leader board.

Re: Guess my opponent\'s hand

Since you've already shot down the obvious 76s, the only thing that seems to make sense is a PP between 99 and JJ. And even that doesn't make a ton of sense.

Re: Oh Yea? Call this.........

Can't believe no one has berated you yet for checking in the first place. You got what you deserved (a painful decision) for not betting it.

Call me crazy, but I would have bet the turn.

Re: \"Thank you sir. May I have another?\"

Outoforder,

You must be new. Dynasty criticizes the play of others with just about every other post he writes. And like it or not, he's usually right.

Re: Even Daniel Negreanu has to play by the “rules”

"I wasn't aware that changing your mind was a sign of bad character."

--My favorite quote on the subject: "The man who sees the world the same at 50 as he did at 20 has just wasted 30 years of...

Re: Suggestions for WPT next year- starting a list

More limit tourneys (granted, there aren't as many to choose from as NL, but a guy can wish).

More coverage of non-final tables. Looks like they missed a golden opportunity when that super-table...

Re: I used Homer suggested Strategy

"Ya I used Homer suggested strategy and check and call. Turn out he had AQs, and he check on the turn and river."

--When he checks behind on the turn, you need to bet the river. Your initial plan...

Re: How was my play?

Guess I'm alone on this one, but I really don't like the play against an unknown. At the flop, you ask yourself 2 questions:
1. Is my opponent capable of folding a weak ace or decent pocket...

Re: Ad4d in a LP

"I would have folded the flop. I am I giving up too much by doing this?"
--Not at all. Chasing here is basically incorrect, but some of us do it anyway. Kinda the same excuse I give when anyone...

Re: Ad4d in a LP

"How many people raise preflop and why?"
--I'll raise Axs after a bundle of limpers if there's a good chance I can buy the button and get a free look at the turn, or if people have been giving my...

Re: Could I have slow-played this better?

With that many seeing the flop and only two cards in the deck that remotely scare you, I think this is a pretty easy check. There's a pretty good chance someone will take a stab at it on the turn.

Re: My final comments on Phil H and his maturity

"I'll try to get better, Dad..."

--*lol* That's all I ask.

FWIW, I didn't mean to single you out personally; it just seems like a lot of people on this board let Phil get under their skin, and...

Re: My final comments on Phil H and his maturity

Easy,

It sounds like you're letting his lack of character get to you. Don't. He's just a guy that's great at something, and also happens to be a tool. Look at any sport, or anything for that...

Re: Weak play?

Call me nuts, but I have this strange feeling that he's holding either 77 or 88.

You played it fine; I figure there's about a 30% chance you won it.

Re: Phil Hellmuth idiot!

"the guy's a complete imbecile who's negative "brat" tude is a stain on all of poker."

Re: George Foreman Grill

If you like your bacon crispy, throw it on there. FYI, the little tray they give you is just big enough to handle the grease discharged from one pound of bacon.

Re: Saloon number 10

Thanks for the reply. I definitely plan on checking out Saloon #10, and if I can play there, that's all the better.

Thanks for the heads-up on the other places, too. With so many casinos in...

Re: Tonight\'s \"Lucky\" episode- beginning of the end?

Agreed on all counts. But then again, I watched the re-run of last week, and it reaffirmed my faith in the show.

I've decided to treat this first season like one big pilot. I assume the...

Re: Results:

After your flop checkraise, it was heads-up and he had position. Then he took two more bets from you. You could argue for a turn or river raise, but that could have easily folded a worse hand or...

Re: Playing A-little when you hit the A

I'm afraid you're over-thinking this one. This hand can be played on auto-pilot: Limp, bet, bet, check.
