Re: What is PokerRoom 10/20 5-max like?

1. The games are excellent.
2. The game selection is very poor (there are very few games, but there are incredibly bad players in all of them).
3. I don't care for the software, but I'm used to the...

Re: Bottom set

Josh, this makes perfect sense to me. Thank you for elaborating.

Also, you were saying that an open-limp is *wrong* 99.9999% of the time, correct?

Thanks again you guys,

Jim

Re: Bottom set

I felt my hand was strong enough, and the pot was small enough, that I would win more leaving the button in the hand.

I can definitely see that I should have raised the turn or 3-bet the flop...

Re: Bottom set

The fish had T4o.

I have been playing small pairs 22-55 in these games because (in general) I expect unreasonable action postflop that compensates for not getting the preflop odds to try to flop a...

Bottom set

Hi everyone, please comment, particularly on the river action, but anywhere really.

Button is a TAG. I have only 70 hands on him, but his play is solid. My stats on him, for what they're worth are...

Re: Gimme A Plan

Forgive me if this is a stuipid question, and I realize its not what you are asking about.

Why aren't we betting into the Button on the flop, hoping he will raise to confront the BB with calling 2...

JTo, how and when do you play it? (semi-stats)

Hello everyone, this post is inspired by the other offsuit discussion.

I've been in a horrid streak lately, which has inspired me to delve into my stats again. In particular, I've noticed that JTo...

Re: I stop n go with MP

I like this. I often bet/fold this turn because the free-card play with a flush draw is so commonly used (overused). If you are ahead, you don't want him getting a free card. With 9BB in the pot...

Re: If I played this right, why do I feel like a fish?

He can't fold this turn because he's getting 9.5:1 to try to fill up and wins at least another BB if he does, probably 2. There is also some chance his hand is good.

I personally can't make these...

Help me to make better reads...

Hi everyone,

I moved up to 10/20-6 about 30k hands ago. It seems that this level rewards hand reading and adjustments to opponents much more than lower limits. I think I do an "OK" job at this,...

Re: Unexpected turn raise with marginal hand...10/20 K3o BB

[ QUOTE ]
No way, I call this down. This guy was near the end of the action so a missed c/r on the flop with an A is unlikely. This is often a 5 or mid PP.

Or even a 4; he's very...

Re: real men dont play hit or miss

I agree. 3-bet PF to get it heads-up with position. Especially since the guy is a bozo. This kind of isolation play didn't work for me below 10/20, but people at 10/20 (and, I'm assuming at 15/30)...

I'll second perl. Perl was invented specifically to perform tasks like this.

Re: bet/fold vs check/call on the river

Here it is, as described by W. Deranged:

Clarkmeister's Theorem: When playing a heads-up pot out-of-position, always lead the river if the river makes four-to-a-flush.

The idea--

If you have...

Re: bet/fold vs check/call on the river

Since you asked for a clear-cut example, isn't the "Clarkmeister Theorem" a perfect instance of bet/fold on the river?

Re: 44

Also, the more I think about it, the preflop 3-bet is to isolate someone who probably doesn't have a pair. You have a small edge preflop if he has 2 unpaired overcards. You have a big edge postflop...

Re: 44

I've been raised in this exact situation many times by AK, AQ, AJ, even JT. Not saying that its correct, but I call down. I think you're up against big cards here and not a pair often enough to call...

Re: Entity and I dont agree on a button steal question

Agaist the range of calling hands, I think the Q has significant value.

Edit: OK, I understand your point -- the Q has value mathematically, but much of it results from the situation when both...

Re: Entity and I dont agree on a button steal question

I don't see this. Sure, you have two cards, either of which could make top pair, but overcards are much, much more likely to come to 8 high than q high. When 87 flops a pair, it is much less likely...
