Re: i guess we were kidding ourselves

If someone is willing to lead the discussion like UW Madtown I would certainly follow it to a new site.
There is no point in trying a new thread here since it will only be hijacked again by the...

Re: Newbies questions - lots ;)

No one book is going to take you from beginner to advanced.
Your idea of a good (enjoyable) book to read may be very different than mine and I don't really think that any I have read so far I would...

Re: Newbies questions - lots ;)

Books are a must in my opinion unless you have someone to teach you or enough money to learn the hard way.
The standard advice I have seen around here is to have a bankroll equal to 300 BB (big...

Re: best micro site? (for the millionth time I\'m sure)

Both Pacific and Paradise offer bonuses and have games lower than .5/1 but as you say not as low as Stars.
There is of course a catch to both.
Paradise clears the bonus off raked hands and doesn't...

Re: Some notes on STATS

Something else to consider is the range of experience and skill represented by this group.
For someone at the upper end of the scale the possibility that their total aggression is really 1.47 when...

Re: Best computer programmes

I don't think you will find any software that will work with Pacific because you cannot get hand histories from them.
Some sites will email you hand histories and others are now storing them on your...

Re: What software is available to a pacific poker player?

I'm just learning limit poker so I can't help with recommendations on tournaments.
I play at Pacific also and as far as I know there is no software available that will allow you to track your play...

Re: Best place for .10/.20

One other thing about Pacific is the time it takes to clear any bonus you get.
Pacific requires you to bet 20 times the bonus amount in order to clear it. So for a $25 bonus you need to bet $500...

Re: Help with hand converter

bisonbison

Thank you for the help and again thank you for taking the time to develop the converter. It makes it possible for a lot of people to gain a lot of knowledge quickly.

Re: First hand post, small/middle pair

I have been having a lot of problems with two pair getting beat.
Even when I was delt AK once and AKX came on the flop I got waxed by someone who had KK and didn't see it coming. I have been trying...

Re: First hand post, small/middle pair

Many thanks Peter.
Ok so I bet to see if someone would raise so I could fold.
You are saying its better to check and see if someone bets for the same reason and it saves me a bet. Is that right?...

Re: First hand post, small/middle pair

Your first post didn't seem harsh at all.
Rather it was full of information for someone playing only about 6 weeks now.
As ncboiler said, "I'm not good at playing these hands" so I normally just...

First hand post, small/middle pair

First hand post so fire away.
I'm never sure what to do with pairs in this range.
Was I right to keep betting this one with no raises?

Re: Help with hand converter

I did that already and included both the hand and what was coming out of the converter.
No response yet so I thought I would try here.
Guess I will try again.

Just picked up ITH today.
Looking forward to the discussions.
I'm very new so I don't know if I can contribute but will probably have questions.
Thank you for taking this on.

Daveymck,

Pointing the beginners to micro for these types of things is, at this time, the right thing to do and if my first post seemed tho indicate otherwise I apologize.

Re: Look, it\'s real simple...

It may also in part be due to what happens or doesn't in the beginners forum.
In there when someone posts a HH they are usually told they will get a better response if they post in the Micro forum....

Re: Question on hand frequencies and practice software...
