Re: Silly? Or okay?

Preflop is a little loose from UTG+1 on what doesn't look like a great table, but whatever.

The flop is iffy. If MP3 has an overpair, he's going to 3bet and blow away BB, charging you far more...

Re: All My Magazine Articles Now Online

Thanks for the cool web archive. FYI: looks like the search & replace for suits went wrong.

Re: Adjustments for SSH on 9 handed table

Just pretend there's an imaginary UTG to the left of the BB who always folds.

Re: How\'d you do on your 2005 poker goals?

I have succeeded greatly, and as result, failed miserably.

That is, I landed a good enough job that spending lots of time on poker is -EV. Most of my play since March has been helping my little...

Coming to NY this weekend!

Obligatory preamble: if you know of places that spread LHE up to 15/30 or so, located in a certain large city in the northeastern US or on a nearby island known for its length, click here:...

Re: Puerto Rico Casinos?

Search for a thread I started about 6 months ago. Key points:
- The rake is huge, borderline unbeatable even with terrible tourist opponents. Of course, it didn't help that my 2nd nut hands ran...

Re: JJ, full house on a double paired board, river play?

Not even a basic inkling of loose vs tight? You should be able to tell within a couple hands whether he'd play a 3 from EP...

Re: Action-packed suited connector

[ QUOTE ]
1) The PFR was a poster, and therefore a bit less likely to auto-continuation bet the flop
2) I'd rather trap the most people in this hand that I can, since I have top pair and a straight...

Re: Action-packed suited connector

I agree, we should be looking to c/r the flop given the position of the PFR. Lucky for us UTG popped it, but then nobody folds. You have to assume lots of people have an OESD.

Turn, I like the...

Edit 2: Try putting MP1 on a hand, by the way. That's a challenge.

Re: Two bluff-raise hands (15/30)

Hand 1: Might work, metagame-dependent.

Hand 2: Utterly unconvincing. If you actually had a big hand (Kx, AA-TT), what's the chance you check behind the turn when the 3rd...

Re: River Action

[ QUOTE ]
Don't you think BB will make a crying call with top set or AA KK?

[/ QUOTE ]
Maybe, but the math doesn't add up. Since they're never folding a better hand and you'll often be raised,...

Re: River Action

Why give them a chance? What do you put them on?

SB sure looks like KQ/AQ/QQ. The Q on board is a /images/graemlins/diamond.gif so well over half of those hands have a big club. If he has an...

Re: Gutshot and over(s?)

There is a time & a place for this sort of raise. Lots of people misapply aggression, especially after they read SSH. Your situation is perfect. nh

Re: 2 tough overpair spots

Missed the lack of raise in hand #1. Bad.

Hand 2, nobody's checkraising the turn with AKs at 2/4. If it were heads up you could call down and hope to see QQ, but with two villians it's time to...

Both hands look fine. Is #1 just a bad-beat post?

Another inside straight draw with chances to fold preflop

Binion's thread reminded me of this one...

UTG is a 60/10 donk, his L-RR means nothing. BB is an average, straightforward player.

Preflop: Hero is MP3 with T/images/graemlins/spade.gif,...

Re: AK ugh

Ironically enough, a few hours after posting my incredulous reply, I played this hand:

Preflop: Hero is SB with K/images/graemlins/spade.gif, T/images/graemlins/club.gif.
UTG calls, UTG+1...

Re: ATs against a LAG

Looks great, Jason. He'll call your 3bet with a worse T, 9, or pair more than enough to make up for the times he's holding a strangely played KK. My only question is whether the villian's preflop...

Re: Blind defense with A9s

Looks good to me. You don't have enough outs to raise unless you think he's weak, which of course you have no idea. Your line lets you showdown your A9 cheaply while giving him a chance to fold a...

Re: AK ugh

Fold, or call if UTG+2 is aggressive postflop. From your average 60/6, his line is screaming that he can beat TPTK. Really now. He plays over half the hands in the deck. Why can't you put him on...

Re: Gettin\' jiggy with AA

3-bet the turn. Wins the same # of bets with less risk of whiffing.
