Re: 3-bet J10s against good player?

5 handed or less this is an automatic three bet for a lot of reasons. If he really is solid then all the more reason to three bet. If he is an internet ace high call down artist then I guess the...

Re: 150-300 PAYOFF

I think the payoff is almost automatic. The real question is the play on earlier streets. I play mostly short handed so that might color my feelings, but here is my two cents. If you feel that the...

Re: 80/160 GAME AT BELLAGIO

I agree with tommy that there is a very high chance that you set is no good here. He makes a very valid point that a truly excellent player is more likely to go nine bets with a huge draw than a...

Re: Hand to Talk About

He has a jack. From what I have seen lately, thats about the only hand it could be. In today's environment there is a lot of fishy play out there. He took a card off to his second pair, bluffed...

Re: JJ 20-40

Almost perfect Mike. I like it up to the seventh bet. I would have check called from there. Is this style good for an average 20/40? I know it is essential for 150/300 and up. Are you sure your...

Re: easy does it

I like it a lot. You made 4 big bets without ever taking the chance of being bluff raised. If you raise the flop you will lose L2 and would probably miss a river bet when the Queen hit and it is...

Intelligence and How it Rates (Comment on Ten Smartest)

I found David's post on the ten smartest interesting in a parlor game sort of way, but since I don't personally know any of the players he mentioned I saw no point in posting a reply. In my mind it...

Re: you can never be too careful

I like the play a lot. The flop check was great, it kept the cutoff in and induced the Button to bet 2nd pair when he was in reaaly bad shape.

I assume you didnt want to shut thee CO off on the...

Re: Milwaukee 30/60 hand

from your party name Iknow exactly who you are, and yes it was a gross omission. In fact, your a lot more dangerous as a chip inhaler than any of those guys I mentioned.

I was trying to banish...

Re: Terrible call on the turn? and question about pot odds

You are not missing anything. It is razpor thin on the turn, there are most likely only 7 clean flush outs. If you felt sure yuo would get called and overcalled on the river if you made your hand...

Re: 150-300 J6s sb

Position is much more important short handed than it is in full ring.

Re: 150-300 J6s sb

I'm not a huge fan of the call in the SB but you are definitely getting your price if you are sure the BB is calling. I would fold or muck depending how I was running and how strong the button plays...

Re: Wait, but... wha... huh? Hellmuth knowledge.

He is quickly losing his mind. The suckouts have taken there toll and he will be a shell of his former self for years to come.

Fear has no place in a Tournament structure, not if you want to...

Re: How Would You Play This Hand?

I think a raise of about 15k is in order, which i think might be enough to fold a pair and naked ace. If I got moved in on I would really be in the tank but would probably have to get broke with the...

Re: Hand Against Bicyclekick

This goes against my grain, especially short handed, but I would have checked the turn behind him. You have a ton of outs to a strong hand and you would hate to get three bet in this spot.

Then...

Re: Terrible call on the turn? and question about pot odds

I know my advice was simplistic but he is at a pretty early stage in his development. If you are getting three callers the money going in on the flop has positive expectation if he indeed has the...

Re: Milwaukee 30/60 hand

I should have been clearer in my post and chose to write it up as straight 30/60. It was actually a 20/40 game kille to 30/60.

The 20/40 gets off at least one table a day and on the weekends...

Milwaukee 30/60 hand

Thought I'd throw this one up for debate. Very loose very passive game. UTG limps UTG+2 limps, CO and Button both call, SB completes and I check in the big blind with 5...

Re: Terrible call on the turn? and question about pot odds

This is a really tuff spot for a beginning player, especially considering the amount of money involved.

Here goes my meager analysis. You sir are [censored] on the turn and you need to get away...

Re: 80-160 87s hand

Split reply, sorry. I think in tight agressive games at the higher limits my way of playing this hand is crucial. How are you ever going to get called when you flop a set or turn a str8 or flush if...

Re: 80-160 87s hand

OK, I'll describe eactly how I would have played the hand and why. I'll leave it to others to let me know why I'm wrong.

I think the preflop call with 87 /images/graemlins/heart.gif is fine once...

Re: Duke & Hellmuth chop Tournament of Champions prize money???

I highly doubt there was a deal struck when the Superstars got down to heads up. That kind of deal would have disrupted the pre tournament deal 6 or 7 seven of them probably made before the event...

Re: Stopping Bluffs

I'm sure I'm not up to this, but what the heck, I'll take a stab. I'm not sure I really care if his bluffing frequency is so high in this spot.

In fact if he can make a laydown to a bluff...

Re: How I would have played Philips A,Q.

Gus made the bigger mistake, if you can call Paul's all in a mistake at all. Seriously, I'm not going broke with tens in this spot ever, especially calling it all off.

I love Paul's idea that...

Re: finally got one just right?

Fantastic. I think it was perfect. Two big bets with all the cards out and an overpair that is way good. I just bet here almost all of the time, and the other times I check call to induce a bluff....
