Re: odds of opponent holding pocket Aces given you holdpocket Kings

This is not correct because you have to subtract the times when two people will get KK. For example the probability of hitting a flush draw with two of your suit on the flop is not 9/47 plus 9/46...

Just a Fun Hand

No strategy questions here. Just me with one of those hands that come around once a year or less and I debated the appropriateness of posting this but I just coudn't help myself.

Fairly average...

Re: Small suited connectors on the button shorthanded?

I think you can call with 68s on the button with two limpers assuming the blinds aren't too aggressive. I often find that the level of aggression goes up significantly for good players when the game...

Re: \"O\" Cirque du Soleil

I sat in the second row and thought it was fantastic. Poker room made my reservation. Any of you who stay at Bellagio through the poker room they will make show reservations for you and generally...

Re: 20-40 with \"thinking\" players

In thirty years of playing live holdem I've never seen someone make a live straddle and not see the flop no matter what it costs. Don't think isolation is possible here - if you make it 4 bets it's...

Re: Ruling

Of course he should be able to reraise but the other player was not THAT clueless.

Ruling

My first gut reaction was of the technical variety. Dealer's picked up the cards, player A didn't call the raise, so he can't win. However, my thinking was then guided by the trying to protect the...

Mirage 40-80 - How Would You Rule?

First of all, I've never seen a game at this limit with 4 absolutely clueless players at the same time - the only problem was the game moved so slowly, probably 25 hands per hour max.

Anyway, we...

Re: 3 betting with 22-66 at higher limits

If you think you make money with overcards against a pair out of position you're insane.

Why? If it's someone who plans to just call to the river if he gets it headsup, you don't think you'll...

Re: 3 betting with 22-66 at higher limits

Paluka - I'm probably echoing some of what a number of people have said. At mid-limits I find a number of people who make this play way too often. The thinking seems to be some form of "I'm...

Re: characteristics of a fish

Here's a more generic answer. A fish is someone who seriously overvalues his/her ability or seriously underestimates the abilities of his/her opponents.

Re: PF decision vs. Maniac

MB:

Well, it's obvious to me that you're not thinking at a deep enough level. You should be thinking about what they'll think that you think they have if you are willing to three-bet and play the...

Re: 20-40 AJs monster draw.

I agree with you thinkin g about it a little differently. The odds of winning by hitting your hand are about 1.1 to 1 against you but you are getting 2 to 1 for every bet you get in (on the flop). ...

AMEN!!!!

Amazing to me how this happens all the time with new players and seems to be forgotten. When I first moved up to 10-20 I rolled over the game (this back in 1988) but after about 18 months of running...

Re: Ten Smartest Non Poker Players

What about Freud? While he may have gotten off on some unusual tangents he introduced a concept that we now all take forgranted - the unconscious. His ability to to think "outside the box" and the...

Reading this post and the responses really got me thinking - good job, Tommy. My first reaction was similar to TSP and others - how could you not put in a raise on the flop and/or the turn? However,...

Re: What Poker gifts did you get for Christmas?

Hey send me the pot. My family knows Dad doesn't need anymore ties. So, they gave me something they knew I'd truly enjoy - a poker week in Las Vegas.

Re: KK w/ an A. twice. 100-200

Mike:

When playing well, I'd probably play these two hands similarly with the major exception of betting the river on the second hand. Just seems too likely that BB could have A9, AT, or even AQ....

Re: Two River Crying Call Situations

Hi Andy - I don't like it because I figure there's a good chance my Ace is only good for half the pot if indeed it's good at all. You may be right about betting out - I'd had alot of success with...
