Re: Foundation for law

The sole purpose of a legal system is to inform people of the rules that will govern their actions, and to administer and enforce those rules.

The alternative to this "rule of law" is "the rule of...

Re: Trying Mr. Miller\'s \"winning\" short stack strategy from GSIH

Etric,

I've been using the EDSSS to clear bonuses at the 25NL on party. I only have a few thousand hands, but it's been going very well.

It would help if you could post some PT stats.

A...

Re: Poker is a partial information game

[ QUOTE ]
The only hand I'm truly scared of is AK /images/graemlins/spade.gif, a set of queens is unlikely.

And a set of jacks?

Re: Poker is a partial information game

Those in favor of a call or push how do you discount these factors:

1. It is highly unlikely that SB is bluffing here (I would put it at %15 of the time max, reasonable?). So he either has a hand...

Re: Poker is a partial information game

Live, I call. Upon 10 minutes of reflection I fold. This is probably why I am struggling so much with NL. /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Playing last night, 9 - 1 am central. Lots of dropped connections, even though my internet connection was fine.

More problematic, the tables i was at (NL100) were crawling, with people taking...

Any stud players out there that know for sure?

very strange text discovered on party and empire table windows

I just started using a program that reads *everything* in a program window, tells you your mouse position, etc...

Anyway, there is a portion of the "table view" that lists the text for a "hidden...

Re: TPTK is killing me. This hand made no sense to me.

I don't like the turn check at all. you raised pf, got called, bet the flop, got called, the turn bricks and you check?

I would bet at least $12 here. If you get called or raised, then shut it...

Re: Bad play on all streets, difficult call on the river... help me ou

This is not the kind of hand you want to encourage action with IMHO.

Flop: minraise is terrible. Bet at least the size of the pot.
Turn: I might bet 2/3 to full pot.
River: that check is a gift...

Re: Set and straight

Neat hand.

You could be up against AK, AQ, AT, KK, QQ, JJ, TT, KQ taking KQ out of the mix that's 66 hands.

Or you could be up against AJ, JJ, KJ, QJ, JT, J9, or J8 taking J8 out of the mix...

Re: Strangle yourself after Party? (low content)

Leaky,

This will help:

1. Buy "Getting Started in Hold'em" by Ed Miller.
2. Follow the short stack strategy to the letter at the $25 tables.
3. Chug through your bonus hands and win -2 / +3...

Re: Decision, Decision

Call and take a look at the flop. A raise will just get called, and then you're in a big pot, OOP with a flop that likely has an overcard or two. If you come over the top AI and get called, you...

Re: AA against 2 other players

FWIW, I probably lose my stack on hand no. one. With the J9 and two diamonds on board, it's easy to put your two callers on draws, so you have to keep making them pay. I push the turn as well. I...

Re: How do I extract value with a safe set?

You can always try the "river min-raise bitch slap".

Hit the min-raise button as quickly as possible after he bets. I've had great luck with this, but don't overdo it.

Re: So whattya think about this play of AK?

PF-Raise pre flop to around $4
Flop - bet 1/2 to full pot on the flop (check-minraise, yuck)
Turn - okay
River - the way you played it through the check on the river makes this a very tough call....
