Re: Bank Roll question for mid/high stakes NLHE

[ QUOTE ]
Some might think 50 buyins is conservative

[/ QUOTE ]

This is way too conservative for someone who says he has been a winning player for 2-3 years. If OP is running even a remote...

Re: shady 2 pair, need turn and river help

[ QUOTE ]
I think you've gotten about as big a pot as you'd like to play and be ahead. The only alternative way to play this would to call turn and play poker on river. I prob like way you played it...

Re: shady 2 pair, need turn and river help

I think that you will see 222, KQ or a turned straight from the first limper too often here to make a raise on the turn, or a bet on the river, worthwhile. I am fairly confident that Player two has...

but the real question is: would you rather reraise preflop with JJ or with AQs?

[/ QUOTE ]

well-played. I'm sure El D and MM broke out in hives thinking about this very question.

These are arguments in favor of playing the flop very fast, not cautiously.

Re: Results

I'm afraid that my opponent's definition of "hitting" his hand may be too broad to warrant a reraise with a marginal holding here. If I reraise and he calls (which will be very often), I am going to...

Villain showed T /images/graemlins/club.gif5 /images/graemlins/club.gif for the turned flush. He obviously put me on a lone A on the river and just tried to make a weirdly small value bet.

River is kind of weird, but you don't want to reopen the betting.

Did you consider check/raising the turn?

25-50 -- this can\'t be right

4 handed. I just sat down so my reads aren't great. I have $5K. Villain covers. My recollection from other sessions is that the Villain in this hand is even more aggressive than the usual 25-50...

I must have missed villain "blasting" this turn.

[/ QUOTE ]

Quit being a nit. Villain raised the turn. I guess it wasn't full pot, but whatever.

Maybe I do like a flop raise then. I just think raising the flop is shutting down 99-QQ and you can pick up a lot of value by bringing them to the turn.

25-50 -- 4 bet the turn?

Game is 4-handed. Villain is a little loose and seems like the type who plays by "feel". He probably is breakeven at best in this game, but he can make money when he is running good against aggros...
