Re: A theoretical question on proper turn play

You dont make a continuation bet on a TT8 board? Hes less likely to have caught a piece when the board is paired than when the flop comes 3 unpaired cards, I think the bet on the flop is standard...

Re: A theoretical question on proper turn play

[ QUOTE ]
Are just soliciting opinions of the posters in this board juat to compare it to the contradicting analyses between Greenstein and Sklansky on this specific hand?

Stack sizes please.

[/ QUOTE ]

It shouldnt matter unless you or villian is shortstacked enough where a bet commits. In that case, you either bet or check/fold and therefore is not...

A theoretical question on proper turn play

While this post has a hand as an example, it is the concepts and theories that are open to debate.

Blinds 75/150
Hand: KQo
Preflop: You open for 150 from MP, all fold to BB who cold calls....

Re: Yet another AK hand

I seem to recall you recommending a 3-4x BB raise on the other AK hand... maybe hes stealing with a drawing hand? That makes sense to me...

Re: An AKo disagreement

You think a player who is unwilling to bet a PP is willign to risk his stack calling it? And you think hes MORE likely to call the push?

You also think a small PP will call the raise but fold to...

Re: Yet another AK hand

[ QUOTE ]
It would be hard to say you played this wrong, when you hit your hand (tptk) and got all of your opponents chips in.

Of course there is a chance he hit a set on the flop and you're dead...

Re: RESULTS

[ QUOTE ]
I have a quick question, how would your play differ with AQs?

[/ QUOTE ]

Re: RESULTS

[ QUOTE ]

Sure, I'd be raising here, but limping is defensible.

[/ QUOTE ]

Theres always a defense for a play. For example, i could check the AK and play it soft unless i hit. Every play...

RESULTS

I pushed, Co-1 called with KK- i did NOT see that one comin. Luckily that 30% came through for me when i spiked the A on the flop. This lead me to believe that if id played it any differently i...

Re: An AKo disagreement

[ QUOTE ]
Depends what you think is a risk... I doubt CO was limping with AA/KK.. so you're risking your chips at worst a 55/45... and probably 90% of the tmie you're taking it uncontested.. That...

Re: An AKo disagreement

Isnt Hero risking it by pushing?

Edit: We never said the blinds were going up anytime soon, youre playing the current hand. In a couple rounds we'll have less than 5x the BB! That shouldnt...

Re: An AKo disagreement

[ QUOTE ]
Hero raises to T2000 (another T1600) and plays the hand OOP.

Hero is going to have to risk his stack at least two dozen times to win the tournament, not risking it with AK is defeatist....

Re: Representing a hand

Villain has AA/KK and is trapping, or Villain is a donk.

Donk, i promise. Also, we're trying to win this pot and the flop is clearly the best place. Any hand we're ahead...

Re: Rough Ride with the Ladies in a $215

[ QUOTE ]

Bascially if the guy moved allin for 900, then Id think its a bit less likely he has AA-KK (Although I almost always just move allin for 900 with AA-KK in that spot).

Re: How do you play this?

I think we've decided the bet out / fold to a raise FROM BIGSTACK is the best play, the issue came down to how much to bet. I liked 250 to keep it small in case the bigstack calls, others liked...

Re: Rough Ride with the Ladies in a $215

42% with 2:1 odds = instacall barring very rare exceptions which i cant think of right now.

However, your point is valid about how this is best case scenario. Still, with 2:1 odds you only have...

Re: Representing a hand

t1700 with t2700 in the middle. This pot is worth taking down, and any small bet looks fishy here, unless you're going up against a good player, which you really aren't, IMHO.

Re: Rough Ride with the Ladies in a $215

I don't really like UTG+1 for KK either. Seems like with his stack he would be willing to chance some extra callers with it.
