Re: Did I play this bad or just get unlucky?

J-9 UTG is an easy fold in almost any game.

PL Omaha Hand Small Pot

Im used to winning small pots with monsters in Pl, but this hand was different due to the number of callers. Was there a way for me to win more? I have no reads and all stack sizes are fairly even.

Re: Fold for one more bet with rivered bottom pair in big pot?

5 opponents have seen this flop. There is an excellent chance you will have to show down the best hand. The only reason I see to 3 bet is to clear out the better aces. Also with 2 cards in the zone,...

Re: TPTK on a coordinated board and UTG leading out into me on the turn.

If you had the K, it would have reduced the chance of him raising with something like Ks-Js. Becomes easier to lay down. The live game I play in is incredibly passive, so I'm used to laying this down.

Re: TPTK on a coordinated board and UTG leading out into me on the turn.

I call the turn in this situation most of the time.I may not call the river bet if the board doesn't pair or I don't improve. Passive players are great to play with because you can save many bets by...

Re: Correct to keep betting?

I fold this preflop but I don't think a call is horrible.

Same with the bet on the river. I probably check and maybe induce a bluff from the ace or a check from a passive player with a better...

Re: Hitting flops in the big blind

It depends. If it's a hand that I normally wouldn't play (like K-2), I check the flop and see what develops. Should a player bet and get a call I fold. If a late positon player bets and it's folded...

Re: Overcards

It's a tough hand to play. Many players just close their eyes and bet to the river. I use the number of opponents and flop to determine my action (I'm assuming I have no info on the players). 3 or...

Results

I don't like to post the results with the hand b/c some will use the additional info to shape their response. Also, as Buzz points out, it doesn't matter. But I know some are curious.

Re: omaha 8 - raise this in the BB

Even without the suited ace I raise here, In fact take away the 4 as well and I raise. You want to build a big pot with this hand as you are all but guaranteed lo if it comes. The players are all...

Limit O8 Hand

I haven't played much lately as i've been reading trying to figure out why I can't beat this game. Buzz opened my eyes with my last post, and I realized that I've been looking at this game wrong. I...

Re: Folding instead of checking

One of the actions is also to check, so next time someone bets into me I guess I'll just check.

Re: Folding instead of checking

I disagree with the majority here. Poker is a game of etiquette and these players have a responsibility to the other players to act in turn (just as they can't show their cards to other players, or...

Re: Should I Bet this River Unimproved?

I would have played the hand the same way. The bet on the flop is almost automatic for me against 3 opponents. Once you get it heads -up, I bet the turn for two reasons.

1) I don't want to give a...

Re: Should I Bet this River Unimproved?

Generally, you can ask yourself 2 questions when deciding whether to bet the river:

1) Will a worse hand call me?
2) Will a better hand fold?

If either answer is yes go ahead and bet. In this...

Re: Funny Limit Hand

I did bet the river. That's when he raised me. /images/graemlins/smile.gif

BTW, you don't make it obvious in your post that the board was the nuts, so you should cut the others some slack.

Re: Funny Limit Hand

Playing at the Orleans one day, I saw a flop of 6-6-6. Checked around. Turn card was a six and I bet. I got 4 callers!!!! River was nothing and I chopped it with the button who didn't raise the turn...

What\'s your Ruling?

Interesting situation tonite. Player A bets the river. Player B fiddles with his chips, looking like he's counting out a raise, but not putting out any chips. Finally he counts out the chips to call,...

Re: 2 outs on the flop?

You have a marginal call preflop. On the flop you are getting 13-1 on a 22-1 shot (I think it's a safe assumption that you have to hit to win). Easy fold. In rare circumstances I may take one off but...

Royal Flush probability

An interesting question was posed the other nite in a live game. Given the same game conditions, are royal flushes more likely in Omaha or Hold'em ? The obvious answer is Omaha, but does the fact...

Re: Flop % in Omaha8

My percentage is a few points lower in limit O8 than hold'em. I recently tracked 1000 hands and I think I saw 14% of the flops outside the blinds.

Re: Help Needed - LL O8

But how many times are you going to flop a nut-lo draw with A-4? I like the hand for it's 2 flush draws and that's about it. Later in the article Cappaletti discusses the pot equity of As-2-4-7...

Re: Help Needed - LL O8

I sense that playing high hands weakly is my problem. I don't want to sound like the hold'em players that whine "I always lose with aces, I'm never raising them again", but it's easy to feel that way...
