Dolph Schayes was Danny Schayes father. Dolph was a great player, might be in the HOF but I don't recall. Danny was typical white stiff 4/5 that never amounted to much.

I think the age factor matters. If someone over 60 dies, no one is all that shocked. Lebron, while maybe not #1 on this list, is 20 and supposed to be the preeminent athlete of the next 15 years....
