Re: good Lee Jones article

[ QUOTE ]

My point isn't that businesses never break the law or do unethical things to make more money. My point is they wouldn't do it if it COST them money. Running a crooked game makes...

Re: good Lee Jones article

I have no reason to believe online poker is rigged, that said it's big business and i wouldnt be at all shocked to wake up one morning to find the headlines exposing an online poker site for having a...

Re: What\'s harder on you, Good hands not hitting or Bad Beats?

I think that for most of us bad beats are far harder to deal with, it's pretty easy to shrug one or two off but if they start coming thick and fast then I know I'm headed straight to tiltland. The...

Re: How important is math in poker?

My personal view is that it is critical to understand how to calculate the odds you are getting on your bets or offering your opponents on their bets, however that is pretty easy to learn. Once you...

Re: PL Omaha

Umm i dont play Omaha ( though I'm about to learn ) but why would pot odds be different than in Hold'Em? It's simply a ratio of pot size vs bet size.

If you are looking for the odds of hitting...

Re: SLAP vs TAG

I'm not sure being a SLAP is undesirable, it probably indicates not much more than that you are playing more hands pre-flop that a TAG would.

Personally I play a SLAP style and when I have forced...

Re: Do you call this turn push by a donk?

Fold, aside of the 2 pair he can also hold a straight. I think you need a good read to call here.

Re: Party $100+$9 early dilemma

Re: Players capable of folds v. players that are not

I think in a tournament one of your main goals is to eliminate as much variance as you can whilst remaining in a positive EV position, this is very unlike a limit ring game where in order to achieve...

Re: Is It Possible To Win A Tight Hold \'em Game, Theoretically?

I tend to think that it isnt so much a question of whether you can beat ultra tight tables but more a question of whether its worth the trouble to do so, in the micros i suspect it isnt, you're...

Re: no B.S.-- how much of poker is luck?

Whether you win or lose a hand is largely luck. If you dont have a hand you wont win often.

How much you win or lose with a hand is more skill dependent, but there's still an element of luck in...

Re: Personality Type and Poker?

I'd have thought that INFP and INFJ would also be good, particularly the INFJs as these are the guys who are reputed to be able to read other people accurately and instinctively which ought to be a...

Re: do you fold this turn?

Without any reads I think that this is a fold on the turn, there is the possibility of trips, a higher pair and straight and flush draws on the board as well. Thats a lot of ways to lose the hand...

Re: Moneymake:In poker \"practice makes perfect\" True?

I think that practice does make perfect but only so long as you are constantly learning from that practice, there is little point in playing even 100,000 hands if you arent constantly engaging your...

Re: Party Poker Market Share...

Hmmm, I think that Party lead the way for a number of reasons;

1/ They are the best known because they advertise heavily in the mainstream.

2/ They are big which generates confidence in their...

Re: A very quick question. 6 MAX

You are looking at this all wrong. If everyone has a weaker hand then all it means is that you have to adjust your game. Hand strengths are relative. If you are entering the pot with...

Re: A very quick question. 6 MAX

Re: A very quick question. 6 MAX

From what i can see your advantage over bad players is significantly reduced in 6-max, mainly because you are forced to lower your opening standards. It would definitely be better for a good player...

Re: Is 6-max always this swingy?

Thanks all. I'm feeling reassured, at first I just wondered if I might be hopeless at 6-max but if the swings are just part of the experience then I'm not overly worried.

Is 6-max always this swingy?

So, I read Mr wookies post and today took my first step into the world of 6-max 1/2. Played 750 hands and finished 5bb up over the session.

Thing is that I immediately went on a 55bb downswing...
