I'm not sure why it would happen but this post made me think - that I keep my computer(s) on 24/7/365 unless there is a reason to turn them off.

It could be your video card that is causing the low quality picture. The video card should be able to do its own rendering of the signal, if it doesn't it will off-load the rendering to the CPU and...
